Jennifer Lopez ‘didn’t know’ A-Rod would propose to her on their romantic getaway

Who should be more embarrassed about this Us Weekly cover, Taylor Swift or Jennifer Lopez? Even though I think Tay-Tay is doing the performative-privacy thing with Joe Alwyn, the whole JoeTay thing is so much less embarrassing than J-Rod. That being said, sure, I totally believe that Taylor wants Joe Alwyn to propose. That’s a different story though, let’s talk about J-Rod and how they got engaged after two years together, and how Jennifer was “surprised.”

Surprise! Jennifer Lopez “didn’t know” Alex Rodriguez was planning on proposing to her on vacation at idyllic Baker’s Bay in the Bahamas on March 9, a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.

“They’ve talked about marriage and have always planned to spend the rest of their lives together, but they were so happy with exactly how things were, they weren’t sure if they wanted to go down that road. It’s almost like they didn’t want to jinx it,” said the insider.

But after two years together, “Marriage is something that became important to both of them and their kids,” says the source. (Lopez, 49 shares twins Max and Emme, 11, with Marc Anthony, and Rodriguez, 43, is dad to Ella, 10, and Natasha, 14, with Cynthia Scurtis.) “They know they want to make this commitment to forever together.”

On one side, I think Jennifer’s “surprise” is utter horsesh-t. I think she was waiting and waiting for Alex to propose and she was increasingly grumpy that he hadn’t. I still believe that she gave him an ultimatum. She was expecting his proposal, 100%. She even had a perfect manicure for the ring photo. On the other side, I do genuinely enjoy the fact that they’re both parents from previous marriages and that blending their families was so important to them, and they wanted to get that right. All that being said, yes, Alex is a cheater. And it’s pretty clear that Jennifer doesn’t care.

Alex posted this photo of Jennifer’s surprise when he got down on one knee.
