Susanna Reid quit drinking because she feared she’d be ‘scarred for life’

Susanna Reid says a doctor's warning that she could damage her body permanently contributed to her giving up drinking for good.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 49, looks incredible after losing two stone thanks to her gruelling diet and alcohol ban.

But she revealed how a GP told her that she could face being 'scarred for life' if she didn't cut out the booze.

The mum-to-three sons, Sam, 17, Finn, 15, and Jack, 14, from her relationship with Dominic Cotton, said that blood vessels were leaving red scars on her face.

She told The Sunday Times Magazine : "I gave up because a doctor told me to. I was concerned because my skin was flushed, I kept getting flare-ups and blemishes, and they were leaving red scars.

"I’d tried all manner of creams and washes, but I knew deep down that what was happening to my skin was probably a manifestation of what I was putting into my body."

Suanna started her new healthy eating regime last summer after her doctor told her she was at the higher end of the Body Mass Index scale.

After deciding she didn't want to spend hours in the gym, Susanna tried to slim down by just dieting.

The morning TV host revealed she'd given up booze, cut out snacking and reduced her carbohydrate intake, insisting she's simply eating better.

Susanna told the Daily Express : "I wanted to shift some weight and as part of that I gave up drink…

"I’ve stopped snacking between meals and I am eating more sensibly too…

It is more than 100 days since I last touched alcohol and I feel clearer, sharper, and more energetic than ever.

"It's certainly helped me – not least because I have get up so early and it doesn't help when you feel as if you are in a constant state of jet lag."
