Kyle Richards from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was clear about one thing going into the new season: the cast and Lisa Vanderpump were not getting along.
While viewers could sense tensions between Vanderpump and everyone else, Richards expressed hope that a reconciliation was possible someday. But, Vanderpump stopped filming with the rest of the cast. She also did not seem to interact with anyone during the show’s premiere.
Richards commented that although the women had a falling, out, she was hopeful they could mend their broken friendship. Until now, Vanderpump hasn’t said much about Richards. She published a blog with pretty pointed comments about how she truly feels.
The explosive fight was the end
Richards admits to being stuck between the other women and Vanderpump. The cast wanted to know if Vanderpump could have planted a story about Dorit Kemsley’s Vanderpump Dogs adoption that went sour. “While Lisa is my friend and I am the closest to her, these women are also my friends,” Richards blogged. “If they weren’t my friends, maybe I could have taken a different stance. But they are, and I could not lie to them. Most importantly, I knew they knew the answer and were waiting for me to be honest.”
But the fight between Richards and Vanderpump, which was rooted in Richards not being sure if Vanderpump planted the story, seemed to be the last interaction between the friends. “Their [Vanderpump and Ken Todd] reaction was so extreme it shocked me,” Richards wrote. “This is not the first time this topic has come up over the years and it has never been met with this sort of a reaction. It didn’t even make sense to me.”
Richards believes that a true friend tells the truth, even if the truth comes with a negative message. “I tried to explain to Lisa that even though I felt what I felt and said what I said, I do care about her and that I thought I WAS being a friend by telling her about the conversation, even if it wasn’t what she wanted to hear,” she wrote. “If I had lied at lunch, my other friends would have lost respect for me for not being honest. If I told my truth, Lisa would be mad at me. This is a no win situation for me. Therefore, I just stuck to my truth.”
They seem to miss each other
Richards talked about Vanderpump in her blog and during television appearances. She admits the women have fought in the past, but always made up. RHOBH often tracked their fights, but also their reconciliations.
“Contrary to some of the comments I’ve seen, Lisa and I did have a real friendship,” Richards blogged. “We have laughed, fought, and made up. We’ve had our ups and downs. Some friendships have more than others. I always felt our friendship was worth it.”
When she appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Richards seemed hopeful the friends could get back together. “My status right now with Lisa is not good,” she told the morning show hosts. “I’m sad to say we’re not speaking at the moment.” But added she hoped they could eventually get back to their friendship. “I really hope so. Because I care about Lisa and we’ve been friends for a long time. If season one through eight taught us anything, they can always get back together.”
Vanderpump told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that she too misses Richards. “Of course I miss that friendship, but maybe it wasn’t such a good friendship after all is said and done,” Bravo’s The Daily Dish reports. She adds they had a lot of fun together, but she didn’t think to play the middle was being a good friend.
But then Vanderpump shared her feelings about Richards
Vanderpump, for the most part, has been guarded about saying where her friendship stands with Richards. But she shared in her blog how she seems to really feel about her former close friend. And her words point to Vanderpump being done with it.
She said the birthday text Richards sent felt insincere. And that, “There were no flowers, no phone call, no messages of retraction – she knew I was reticent to celebrate my birthday this year so soon after a family tragedy, I was insulted that she chose to discard our friendship, as if it was insignificant.”
Then she revealed perhaps why Richards seemed so flummoxed that Vanderpump didn’t respond to any of her texts. ” And so, I declined to ever entertain a text from her again and I pressed the BLOCK button …Problem solved. She threw our relationship down the toilet and I flushed it!”
Vanderpump adds that the whole “Goodbye, Kyle” challenge shows that Richards doesn’t mourn the loss of their friendship. Plus this is why viewers won’t see Vanderpump filming with the other women. “So I went forward with my life and extricated myself from the group, I was in a place where I was searching for happiness and It was not to be found with this group of women,” Vanderpump blogged. “It wasn’t just a case of distancing myself, I was trying to emerge from under the dark cloud that had shrouded me, it was a case of protecting myself.”
