As the time for Princess Eugenie to walk down the aisle of St. George’s Castle and marry Jack Brooksbank draws near, members of the royal family are finally starting to show up and take their seats. The latest family member to arrive is none other than Eugenie’s grandmother and symbolic ruler of the United Kingdom, the Queen.
The Queen arrived with Prince Philip shortly before the ceremony in a pale blue matching dress and coat by Angela Kelly. Compared to the Queen’s usual vibrant get-ups, this one was rather tame.
She almost exclusively wears bright colors because it reportedly makes it easier to spot her in a crowd, but it seems she didn’t want to take any attention away from her granddaughter today. According to her daughter-in-law Sophie of Wessex, “She needs to stand out for people to be able to say ‘I saw the Queen.'” That Queen, she’s so considerate!
This outfit is also a stark contrast to what she wore to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding in May this year.
There’s no telling if the Queen will go through outfit changes—as Eugenie surely will— and slip into something more comfortable for the reception, but we can only hope there’s a hot pink Juicy Couture tracksuit in her future.
