Apple is going to remove ads from music app Shazam after the buyout

It will soon be easier than ever to name that damn tune, as music app Shazam will be entirely ad-free before you know it.

Yes, now that Apple’s (typically sizeable) deal with Shazam has been finalised, the tech giant has confirmed that it will be streamlining the experience for users of the app.

In case you’re a walking, talking encyclopaedia of music and have never used the app, Shazam identifies songs by simply listening to the music around it. It’s genius, really.

Confirming its plans in a statement yesterday (September 24), Apple Music said: “Apple and Shazam have a long history together. Shazam was one of the first apps available when we launched the App Store and has become a favourite app for music fans everywhere.

“With a shared love of music and innovation, we are thrilled to bring our teams together to provide users even more great ways to discover, experience and enjoy music,” it added.

Although there are no specifics about Shazam’s “ad-free” experience at the moment, rest assured it will be available to “all users”, rather than just those on a premium tier.
