Alex Rider TV series release date, cast, trailer, plot: When is it out?

Alex Rider, the super-spy of Anthony Horowitz books Stormbreaker and Point Blanc, is getting a TV series from Sony Pictures Television. The Sony series does not have a release date (or a TV network) yet, but the cast has been announced and includes Vicky McClure, Andrew Buchan and Stephen Dillane. The Alex Rider TV series does not have a trailer yet and we do not know which of the books the series will take its plot from.

The Alex Rider TV series does not have a release date yet.

Sony greenlit the project in July 2018, though it has not announced where and when it will air.

The TV series comes 13 years after film adaptation Alex Rider: Stormbreaker, starring Alex Pettyfer as the spy.

The network and release date of Alex Rider is sure to be announced soon and this article will be updated when it is.

Who is in the cast of the Alex Rider TV series?

The eponymous Alex Rider will be played by the 23-year-old Otto Farrant, who has previously starred in War & Peace, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and last year’s Mrs Wilson.

He will be joined by Broadchurch’s Andrew Buchan, playing his guardian Ian Rider, Game of Thrones’ Stephen Dillane as Alan Blunt, the head of the spy agency that recruits Alex and Line of Duty’s Vicky McClure, who is Blunt’s second-in-command in The Department.

Also starring in Alex Rider is Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo as Alex’s housekeeper Jack Starbright and Game of Thrones’ Brenock O’Connor as his best friend Tom.

Other cast members include Ace Bhatti, Nyasha Hatendi and Marli Siu.

What will happen in the Alex Rider TV series?

According to Deadline, this series will be based upon the second of Horowitz’s Ryder books, Point Blanc.

The synopsis for the novel reads: “Investigations into the ‘accidental’ deaths of two of the world’s most powerful men have revealed just one link.

“Both had a son attending Point Blanc Academy – an exclusive school for rebellious rich kids, run by the sinister Dr Grief and set high on an isolated mountain peak in the French Alps.

“Armed only with a false ID and a new collection of brilliantly disguised gadgets, Alex must infiltrate the academy as a pupil and establish the truth about what is really happening there.”

Is there a trailer for the Alex Rider TV series?

There is no promo yet for the Alex Rider Sony series.

However, the series is to start shooting soon, meaning we should get the first images in the coming months.

Though we do not know when this will be, it could be around the time of San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019.
