Coronation Street reveals hunk Matt Milburn is returning to the soap as footballer Tommy Orpington for the first time in two years

The actor is heading back to Weatherfield to reprise his role as the local sports hero.

Tommy, who plays for Weatherfield County FC, turned up on the Cobbles back in 2016 and appeared in a handful of episodes.

Viewers may remember him turning up in the Rovers and leaving Steve McDonald totally star-struck.

He's now coming back to make pay Jack Webster a surprise visit to cheer him up after having his foot amputated, according to Digital Spy.

Jack has been through the wars in recent weeks after a near-fatal battle with sepsis.

The youngster was rushed to hospital after collapsing at home and doctors broke the news to a terrified Sophie that Jack was suffering from sepsis.

Kevin arrived at the hospital and Ali informed him that his son was on life support.

He gave the amputation the go-ahead but fought back tears when he had to break the news to his son that he’s lost his foot.

He lost his foot and has to go through rehab to get him back on his feet, so a visit from Tommy may be just the thing to lift his spirits.

Matt is best known for playing Joe Spencer on Hollyoaks between 2003 and 2006.

Joe was killed off in the pub fire which destroyed The Dog in The Pond.

The actor also played vet Nicky Pritchard on Emmerdale in 2011.

He was last seen onscreen in medical drama Doctors last year.
