Corrie’s guilt-wracked Eva breaks down in tears at Aidan’s funeral

A guilt-wracked Eva Price can be seen breaking down as she bids an emotional farewell to her ex-boyfriend Aidan Connor in first look pictures from Coronation Street.

In the sneak preview Eva, played by Catherine Tyldesley, is seen wiping tears form her eyes and staring forlornly at the ground as she watches Aidan’s relatives arrive at the church.

At one point Eva is seen being embraced by her half-sister Toyah Battersby, played by Georgia Taylor, as she tries to giver Eva a pep talk to get her through the devastating event.

But will Eva’s grief and guilt lead to her finally revealing that Toyah Battersby and Peter Barlow’s daughter Susie is actually hers and Aidan’s?

Ever since his shock suicide, she’s been struggling to keep the truth from his dad Johnny and the rest of the Connor clan.

Toyah is raising the little one as her own, having duped Peter into believing the baby was carried and birthed by their surrogate.

She sent Eva to a cottage in Cheshire to have the baby, before they falsified the birth certificate and Toyah brought Susie back to Weatherfield, as her own.

Aidan’s former bit-on-the-side, hairdresser Maria Connor, played by Samia Longchambon, was also spotted shooting the emotional scenes.

Kate Connor (Faye Brookes), Rana Nazir (Bhavna Kimbachia), Carla Connor (Alison King) and Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh), looked sombre as they paid their respects to the tragic factory owner.

Michelle is also seen standing near Eva throughout the filming, as Eva stares down at flowers which are sitting around the coffin.

Johnny and Jenny Connor, played by Richard Hawley and Sally Ann Matthews also walk alongside the coffin, looking completely grief stricken as has been shown in episodes since Aidan’s suicide.

Johnny particularly has struggled to cope with the ordeal of the loss of his son, lashing out at other people such as Sophie Webster, Carla and Jenny as he tries to get over what has happened.

Aidan’s father looks dishevelled as he watches his son’s coffin being brought into the church by the pallbearers, but clearly has no idea about Eva’s torment and the fact Aidan’s baby daughter is now living on his street.

Will the funeral be the moment he finds out everything?

Aidan’s suicide has had a huge impact on everyone on the street, and a special hour-long episode showing the aftermath was the most-watched thing on television that day.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
