Game of Thrones fans demand HBO remake season 8 with petition

Major Game of Thrones season 8 episode 5 spoilers below.

Game of Thrones fans have started a petition calling on HBO to remake season eight after episode five, The Bells sparked a huge backlash.

We’re not sure if we can handle another season after two years of build-up followed by crushing disappointment, to be honest, but the petition’s creators certainly have a point.

The petition was created by Dylan D on Change.org and it already has almost 15,000 signatures out of its 15,000 target.

It calls on HBO to ‘remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers’.

Showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss have been ruthlessly slammed online and called ‘bad writers’ following episode five.

The plea reads: ‘David Benioff and DB Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.

‘This series deserves a final season that makes sense.

‘Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!’

The comments on the petition show support for the motion, with pretty much all of them agreeing that the season eight script needs to be redone.

One fan wrote: ‘I understand it’s GOT but don’t trash 8 yrs of character building for what they think will shock and awe us. It sucks.’

While another added: ‘Because this isn’t subverting expectation, it’s just really bad television.’

One more wrote: ‘Seems the scriptwriters just wanted to end it as soon as possible, no logic served.’

Game of Thrones season 8 episode 5 is currently streaming on NOW TV.
