Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan takes a swipe at Ant McPartlin for winning TV Choice Award despite 'not pitching up for work'

The TV host fumed as Ant and Dec scooped Best Entertainment Show for Saturday Night Takeaway even though Ant was absent for two of the episodes.

During today's instalment of GMB, Piers, 53, and his co-host Susanna Reid spoke about last night's ceremony and Piers expressed his outrage as his show failed to score a single nomination.

He vowed to boycott all awards shows in future and slammed Ant and Dec for winning a top trophy even though Ant took time off to deal with his personal problems.

Piers said: "I've decided not to go to any more awards ceremonies.

"My award comes every day from you the viewers…

"Ant and Dec winning everything when one half of them isn't even there – it's ridiculous, isn't it?

"At least I pitched up for work."

Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway saw off competition from Celebrity Juice, Gogglebox and The Graham Norton Show to scoop the Best Entertainment Show trophy last night.

Neither of them attended the glitzy prizegiving as Ant has stepped away from public life and Dec welcomed a new baby last week.

Earlier this year, Dec was left to host two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway alone after Ant was arrested on a drink driving charge over a car crash in London in March.

Ant went on to check into rehab and pull out of all his upcoming TV work until 2019 to give himself time to battle his demons.

Saturday Night Takeaway has been scrapped until 2020, and Dec will now host I'm A Celebrity with fellow ITV star Holly Willoughby.
