Love Island’s Maura Higgins slapped with ITV warning over ‘gay slur’

The 28-year-old beauty, who previously modelled with Liam Payne, has risked her place in the villa after a video of her using a homophobic slur appeared online.

Maura, who shocked viewers last night by saying Tommy Fury made her “f***y flutter”, used the word “f****t” in a clip which is being shared on social media.

During the short video, Maura copies Bradley Cooper’s character Phil from controversial film The Hangover by yelling: “Paging Dr F****t!”

The clip was initially posted on March 26 by her friend and fellow model Jennifer McSween.

Coming down hard on the language, a spokesman for ITV said: “We do not tolerate any offensive language in the villa.

“We speak to all of the islanders to remind them of what we condone to be acceptable behaviour during their time on the show.”

Last night viewers watched as Maura and Tommy hit it off within minutes of meeting in the villa.

Watching from the balcony, Amber stuck her fingers up at the duo before shouting: “Alright, confident sh**s.”

Love Island continues on ITV2 at 9pm.
