There are plenty of other universities across the world
Leonard Hofstadter (played by Johnny Galecki) and Penny Hofstadter (Kaley Cuoco) have been a part of all 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory, but their fate for the end of the CBS series might just have been sealed.
The group of friends have been through so many different experiences together, but it looks like the couple might be leaving the group behind and setting up a new life elsewhere.
In this week’s episode promo called The Decision Reverberation, Leonard confirms his plan to quit his job at the university.
Discussing it with wife Penny, he nonchalantly declares: “There are plenty of other universities across the world.”
Penny, clearly angered, replies: “I can’t even get you to go to the beach and now you want to move to the world?”
The title of the episode suggests the group will have to come to terms with a decision that will affect all of them.
With only five episodes left, is this the first indication of how the couple’s story will come to an end?
There is the potential for emotional scenes if they choose to leave the group and set up a new life elsewhere.
Kaley has previously revealed the way the show will end: “It’s going to be a surprise to all of us. Everyone is struggling to let go of this show, even the writers.
“I know that we’re all going to freak out reading that final episode. I hope that whatever loose ends they felt they needed to tie up will be tied up.
“I’m sure they want to see where all these characters end up, and I think the writers don’t want to leave some sort of ending.
“They want these characters to live on in people’s minds and hearts, so it’s going to have to be written in a very special way.”
She suggested bosses want the characters to fulfil their destinies.
There are only a few more days of filming for cast before the last ever day of filming on the show and the stars are getting emotional.
Kaley recently posted a photo of the cast on one of the final filming days and said: “TONIGHT don’t miss an all new episode @bigbangtheory_cbs! Only a few curtain calls left!! Cue tears!!!”
The photo showed an ecstatic looking cast and they are obviously happy something from the show’s finale.
Are fans going to get the happy, fulfilling ending they crave?
Amy Farrah Fowler star Mayim Bialik has also been getting emotional at the series come to a close and recently posted photos of her dressing room from the set before it was taken apart.
She said in a post: ”My dressing room held me up in so many ways. And all of this is so bittersweet. But honestly, the taking down of the things that comforted me feels mostly bitter!”
CBS announced the hour-long series finale will be released May 16.
The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS and in the UK on E4.
