Kingston man charged with assault with a weapon after alleged broomstick attack

A Kingston man is facing serious charges after allegedly striking his roommate with a broom handle.

Kingston police say an argument between two roommates began at a downtown home on Feb. 8. According to police, the two men were arguing about one man leaving garbage bags outside the other’s bedroom.

Despite an attempt at mediation from the landlord, the fight continued and worsened to the point where one man grabbed a wooden broom handle and allegedly “violently” struck the other victim before leaving, Kingston police say.

The 26-year-old accused was arrested when he came back to his home and charged with assault with a weapon and three counts of breach of probation.
