Horrifying footage shows a man being burned alive by a bloodthirsty mob – as punishment for stealing a car.
More than 800 people gathered in a square in the Peruvian town of Santo Tomás to watch the alleged thief be doused in petrol then set alight.
A flaming object was thrown at Vicente Pimentel Huaicho, 41, and screams rang out in the crowd as the fire engulfed his body.
Huaicho is accused of stealing a vehicle and the alleged crime prompted his attempted public lynching on Tuesday afternoon.
Some onlookers can be seen running towards him and hitting him with clothing after he goes up in flames.

After the fire was put out, he was carried to the police station where he will reportedly be investigated for the alleged theft.

Police officers were later reportedly in a six-hour standoff with residents who gathered around the police station demanding that he be executed.
It is not clear if anyone involved in the incident has been arrested.
