Ben Affleck read Jennifer Lopez a '12-page speech' at their wedding, plus more news
Kevin Smith dishes on Ben Affleck’s super-long wedding speech to JLo

Ben Affleck’s longtime buddy Kevin Smith shared new details on Ben and Jennifer Lopez’s recent Georgia wedding on “The View” on Tuesday, Sept. 13, including a sweet jab at the actor’s apparent gift of the gab. “He wrote his vows — they [both] wrote their vows, but he wrote a big speech that he read to her at the wedding, which was breathtaking — and it was long,” the “Clerks” director shared. “That’s one of my favorite things about Ben: He’s his own biggest fan, so he wrote like a 12-page speech. I was like, ‘Keep talking, keep talking,'” Kevin joked. “It was wonderful. Very inspiring. I was happy for them. They deserve it,” he added. Ben and Jennifer finally said “I do” before their loved ones on Aug. 20, two decades after they first got engaged. They ultimately called it quits the first time around before marrying other people, divorcing and reconnecting during the pandemic. The fairytale aspect of their on-again love was clearly not lost on Kevin, who admitted on “The View” that he spent the whole wedding in tears. “Even a cold-hearted robot would walk away from that ceremony like, ‘Oh my god, true love can happen!'” he joked. The director had similarly gushing things to say about the whole affair in a recent People interview, where he recalled Ben “radiating f****** joy as he looked down the aisle and saw the woman of his dreams coming toward him, and she radiated it right back.”

Zendaya reveals boyfriend Tom Holland was the first person she texted after historic Emmys win

Zendaya made Emmy Awards history (again) on Monday, Sept. 12, when her “Euphoria” performance earned her a second win for outstanding lead actress in a drama series. The victory makes the 26-year-old the youngest star who’s ever snagged two acting Emmys and the first Black woman who’s ever won Emmy gold twice in that category. And while her boyfriend Tom Holland couldn’t be at the show in Los Angeles to help her celebrate, he was the first person she contacted about the honor. “Well, I didn’t have to text my mom because my mom was already there — she’s here tonight, which is very special,” Zendaya told E! News when asked who she reached out to first about her award. “And I text my boyfriend.” Tom was photographed on the New York City set of his upcoming Apple TV+ series “The Crowded Room” earlier on Monday, according to the Daily Mail. The “Spider-Man” co-stars reportedly spent time together in Budapest last month, where Zendaya was filming “Dune 2.” Zendaya, who won her first Emmy in 2020 for her portrayal of the teen addict Rue Bennett in “Euphoria,” said in her acceptance speech on Monday, “My greatest wish for ‘Euphoria’ was that it could help heal people and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me.” She added, “I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are Rue, I want you to know that I’m so grateful for your stories and I carry them with me and I carry them with her.” The star’s first Emmy win was historic, as well, making her the youngest person to win the Emmy for best actress in a drama at age 24. HBO recently confirmed “Euphoria” will return for a third season.

Khloe Kardashian claps back at troll who criticized her parenting

Khloe Kardashian put her epic clap-back skills on display once again this week after a troll criticized her parenting on Instagram. A post shared by Comments By Celebs on Monday, Sept. 12 shows a user asked the Hulu star and Good American creator, “When do you spend time with your kids?” Khloe’s response? “When they are awake baby doll.” Khloe and her ex, Tristan Thompson, recently welcomed their second child — a boy — via surrogate. He joins big sister True Thompson, 4. “Being able to shape little people into really incredible big people is an honor and a gift,” Khloe recently told Elle. “I know it’s cliché, but I love everything, even the hard parts. It’s super scary, but I take my job very seriously,” she continued. “We have to take those roles seriously.” Despite that perspective, the reality star’s no stranger to social media criticism when it comes to parenting — and she’s no amateur when it comes to telling off trolls. After “The Kardashians” Hulu premiere earlier this year, amid negative comments about her decision to carry True in her arms on the red carpet, Khloe gracefully offered this bit of explanation on Twitter: “For the people who comment that I hold True too much … number 1 I’m gonna hold my baby until I can’t hold her anymore. Number 2 when there’s tons of cameras around, flashing lights, [paps] yelling things … I want my baby to feel safe. Worry about your own children. We good over here.”

Now, she’s ready to kickstart her own projects, from funding organizations that are working to restore the biomes of her native Brazil to her plans to launch a travel series. At the same time, she wants Tom to pursue what makes him happy — and that’s football, as he made clear with his recent “un-retirement” from the NFL. “Obviously, I have my concerns — this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” Giseletells Elle in the magazine’s October 2022 cover story. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too,” she continues. Looking back on her thirties, the supermodel, 42, says she feels positive about her decision to focus on her family when the couple’s children were young. (They share Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9, plus Gisele’s stepson Jack, 15, who he shares with ex Bridget Moynahan.) “I’ve done my part, which is [to] be there for [Tom],” she explains. “I moved to Boston, and I focused on creating a cocoon and a loving environment for my children to grow up in and to be there supporting him and his dreams. Seeing my children succeed and become the beautiful little humans that they are, seeing him succeed, and being fulfilled in his career — it makes me happy. At this point in my life, I feel like I’ve done a good job on that.” Looking ahead, Gisele sees her own goals and plans on the horizon. “I feel very fulfilled in that way, as a mother and as a wife,” she says. “And now it’s going to be my turn. It’s not like I’m going to be in the valley forever.

Prince Harry addresses being barred from wearing military uniform to Queen Elizabeth’s vigil

Following a barrage of reports about Prince Harry’s civilian dress plans for events honoring his late grandmother, the Duke of Sussex issued a statement asking the world to focus instead on Queen Elizabeth II in the wake of her death. “Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex will wear a mourning suit throughout events honoring his grandmother,” the statement read, according to Entertainment Tonight. “His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully ask that focus remain on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.” Despite his long tenure in the British Army, Harry lost his honorary military titles when he and Duchess Meghan stepped down as working members of the royal family in 2020. Harry’s uncle, Prince Andrew, sparked attention on Monday, Sept. 12, with news he would wear his military uniform to the queen’s vigil, despite having been stripped of his honorary military titles due to a lawsuit involving sexual assault allegations and his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew will reportedly return to civilian clothes for the other events honoring the queen, including her funeral.
