Billie Shepherd and her family are adapting to life as a family of five since the birth of her third child Margot last December.
There's no doubt it's been a magical time for the Shepherds, but it's not been without it's challenges and their four year old son Arthur has particularly struggled with the change.
“As much as it’s been amazing, we’ve had lots of moments as well – tears, tantrums and it is a big thing adjusting any new baby into a family,” she told OK!
“With Arthur being the youngest, we always kind of expected it a little bit. He’s being a bit smothering and it’s all for my attention. I’ll be pottering around and he’ll be over her and breathing on her and looking at me out of the corner of his eye. It doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative attention as long as he’s got my attention."
"He’s trying to do things to wind me up," Billie, who recently turned 33, continued.
"You just get so bored of the sound of your own voice – you’re emotional anyway when you have a baby and it’s a massive change. You’re exhausted from the birth, so it was a lot. It’s so draining. I can laugh a little bit about it now, but it’s still going on. You just feel like you’re repeating yourself constantly. It’s hard.”
But her oldest child Nelly, eight, and Arthur have been helping their mum with the new arrival and holding their little sister, now seven weeks, when they get home from school.
“Arthur, bless him, he’s really good at helping out,” she said. “Whereas Nelly can be a bit like, ‘Oh, am I a slave now?’ But then Nelly’s really good with Margot and can hold her and walk about with her now.”
Billie gave birth to her darling daughter Margot on the 2nd December after a three-day labour.
She was close to having an emergency C-section before being able to give birth naturally when she became 9cm dilated.
“I was exhausted and I got this adrenaline and I don’t know where the energy came from within to push her out, but I was determined. I thought, ‘That’s it, I’m getting her out now’.”
Once little Margot arrived, Billie, husband Greg and her mum Suzanne cried with tears of joy.
“It’s the most amazing feeling in the world, when you hear your baby crying and they put them on you,” said Billie.
“I was like, ‘What is it? What is it?’ to Greg and he was like, ‘It’s a girl!’. It was the most amazing moment and we captured it all ourselves and it’s all on the show. It’s very raw.”
