Queen Consort Camilla is expected to get first choice of items from Elizabeth II's clothes and jewellery collection – but Kate Middleton is tipped to receive "the lion's share".
Royal experts say it would have been long decided who gets what, but as future queen consort, the Princess of Wales, 40, will get the most.
As most of her Her Majesty's jewels belong to the Crown, they will be passed on to the next sovereign.
Items from her personal collection are expected to have been given to family members chosen by the Queen herself, while some clothing may have been passed on to her grandchildren and could be altered for future use by them.
Majesty Magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward said the late monarch would have "sorted and organised" who receives the items a long time ago, reports MailOnline.
She said: "I imagine Her late Majesty's personal jewellery will be given to various members of her family. The Princess of Wales as the future Queen receiving the lion's share.
"There are pieces which will remain for use of the reigning monarch's wife – in this case Camilla. She will need a large collection to support her constitutional role."
Royal expert Christine Ross told the publication that some items, including the Queen's wedding dress and coronation gown will be "preserved for historical purposes" and "placed on display."
One piece of jewellery that may be retained by Camilla is the Queen Mother's Diamond Thistle Brooch.
The Queen Consort wore the rarely seen piece at Elizabeth II's coffin procession and vigil in Edinburgh in a subtle tribute to the late monarch's mother.
One of the Queen Mother's favourite pieces of jewellery, the large jewel is made of diamonds and features two thistles – the floral emblem of Scotland – rendered from precious gems.
Elizabeth II used to loan the piece to Camilla for engagements in Scotland.
Kate's seven year old daughter Princess Charlotte paid a poignant tribute to the Queen at the state funeral with her first piece of jewellery worn to a royal event.
The young royal sported a diamond horseshoe shaped brooch to the emotional service at Westminster Abbey in memory of her great-grandmother, who had a great love for horses.
Kate also paid tribute by wearing one of the late monarch’s own necklaces to the funeral.
Alongside the necklace today, The Princess of Wales wore a pair of Bahrain pearl drop earrings, which were also once a prized piece of Queen Elizabeth’s own collection.
