Cheryl tends to keep a low profile these days, so it always make us smile when she checks in!
The Girls Aloud star has stayed out of the limelight since she welcomed her now five-year-old son Bear in 2017.
But, she still likes to put in the odd appearance to update her fans, which she did on Thursday by thanking them for the birthday wishes.
The former X Factor judge turned 39 on June 30 and, naturally, celebrated in style.
Taking to Instagram to greet her 3.5million followers, the Geordie lass shared a playful pouty selfie from her special day.
Cheryl looked gorgeous in a pastel yellow sweater with a white turtle neck top underneath, showing off the yummiest slice of cake with a side of strawberries.
She wrote in her caption: ‘Thank you so much for all the lovely birthday wishes ✨ 🥰🎈 I think I’ve had the best one yet.
‘I have never been more in gratitude or contentment ! (Or ate so much cake 🍰) sending so much love 💕’.
Fans and famous friends flocked to the comments to shower the pop star in well wishes and rejoice at the return of their ‘queen’ to the ‘Gram.
‘Happiest birthday Chez! Love you to the moon and back! ❤️ Miss you being here’, one fan wrote.
‘So beaut😍 missed you loads! Hope you’ve had the best day 💕🥰 we always think of you !!!’, commented another.
The last time Cheryl posted on her Instagram feed was May 10 when she shared a video to mark one year of working with Feel, a vitamin brand for which she is an ambassador.
As much as they love seeing her thrive, fans couldn’t help but beg the Promise This hitmaker for ‘less pills and more music’ since her last release was the banger Let You in 2019.
In September 2021, Naughty Boy revealed that Cheryl had been working on new music with him and her former band mate Nicola Roberts, stating: ‘Me, Cheryl and Nicola put a few songs together. They’re really incredible songs, but it depends when Cheryl is ready to release it. There’s definitely an album there. You can’t force these things. Cheryl is a real artist. She’s not one of those artists you can force.’
Cheryl has grown closer with her Girls Aloud pals over recent months following the heartbreaking death of Sarah Harding, who died from breast cancer last year at the age of 39.
United in their grief and wanting to honour Harding’s legacy, Cheryl and Nicola, along with Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh are joining forces with Cancer Research UK for a 5k charity race.
The event will aim to raise money for vital breast cancer research that will help improve survival for people with cancer.
Their 5k race will take place on Sunday July 24 at Race for Life in Hyde Park, London beginning at 11:30am. Everyone is welcome to take part in the non-competitive event, and participants can run, walk or jog the route.
