Cheryl seen in rehearsals for theatre debut after taking over role from Laura Whitmore

Cheryl has been seen preparing for her theatre debut ahead of her opening night in West End thriller, 2:22 A Ghost Story.

Cheryl announced in early December that she’d be starring as Jenny in the popular theatre show, and has since been snapped in rehearsals.

The mum-of-one’s opening night takes place this weekend, Saturday 21 January.

In one photo of the 39 year old, Cheryl cut a calm figure as she relaxed with a warm refreshment.

Wearing a black jumper, Cheryl looked effortlessly chic with her hair tied back.

Another snap showed Cheryl deep in rehearsals alongside TV star Hugo Chegwin.

The singer has a busy few months ahead of her, with her tenure in the play running until April.

At the time of her announcement, Cheryl said she was “SO excited” to be starring in the play.

“Hey!!! .. I am SO excited to be starring in the west end thriller @222aghoststory !!” she wrote alongside a promo photo of her.

She went on: “I’ve seen the show with a previous cast and LOVED IT ! It is a totally new and exciting experience for me so if you’re looking for a fun night out & some entertainment in your new year tickets are available now….whenever you’re ready!!”

Her celebrity pals were quick to congratulate Cheryl on her new gig and shared her excitement.

”Whoooooop!!! A fresh Jenny dance! Welcome to the family,” wrote Giovanna Fletcher, who has also starred in the play.

“OH MY GAAAD,” added Rylan Clark, as Vicky Pattison said: “I am so f**king excited about this”.

2:22 A Ghost Story alumni Laura Whitmore, who is thought to have been paid £20,000 a week to star in the show, went on: “It’s the best!!! You’re going to love it”.

Laura’s time on the show recently came to an end, with the star saying her “heart was full” afterwards.

Sharing a clip of her and her co-stars dating a bow on the closing night, her fans were quick to gush over her performance.

“So glad I got to see this twice. You were spectacular @thewhitmore,” one person gushed.

Another said: “So happy I got to see this- excellent all round”.

“Saw the show in November and loved it. Your performance was fantastic. Amazing!” a third went on, while someone else penned: “Massive achievement! You were bloody brilliant [heart emoji]”.

Other big names to have starred in the show include Lily Allen, Matt Willis, Stephanie Beatriz, The Inbetweeners’ James Buckley, and Harry Potter star Tom Felton.
