Chloe Madeley has opened up about her labour experience and reveals her birthing plan, well, didn’t exactly go to plan.
The fitness trainer, daughter of TV presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan, has become a first-time mum after welcoming her first child with husband James Haskell.
However, while Chloe, 35, and James, 37, are now basking in their little bubble of newborn joy, the journey to bringing their baby girl into the world wasn’t a smooth one.
In her latest Instagram post, Chloe shared a throwback shot of her baby bump on show while she was in the throes of labour in the delivery room.
She explained to her Instagram followers: ‘Forever grateful that even though my childbirth did not go to plan, I was surrounded by compassionate, skilled, knowledgeable and experienced women from start to finish.
‘Here is my deepest, most heartfelt thank you to all the midwives out there who pull long shifts, have to make difficult decisions under pressure, have seen a hell of a lot of good and bad, and exercise compassion and reassurance every single day for those under their care.
‘Also to the obstetricians who are exactly where they need to be, exactly when they need to be there, and who manage to see the whole thing through with what seems to be complete ease.’
Heaping praise on her husband of four years, Chloe added on a lighter note: ‘And @jameshaskell , after I nearly fired you from your post for fear you would be at another DJ gig when I went into labour 😂, you were the DREAM birth partner.
‘I couldn’t have wished for anyone better to hold my hand and talk me through everything from start to finish ❤️ thank you ❤️ I love you ❤️ we DO make cute babies 😍’
James shared a similar photo of Chloe in the delivery room when they had ‘some semblance of a birth plan’.
‘@madeleychloe ready to be even more of a star than usual,’ he added sweetly.
The couple announced the arrival of their baby girl on Sunday, but are yet to reveal her name.
Confirming the joyful news, Chloe told OK! Magazine: ‘We are delighted to welcome to the world our daughter. We are utterly besotted and beaming with pride.’
James recalled the emotional moment he learned they were expecting a girl, and: ‘That’s when I welled up and nearly cried. It was pretty exciting. I actually wanted a little girl – I’ve been around enough men my entire life.’
Chloe and James, who had been trying to conceive a baby for two years, tied the knot in 2018.
