Coleen Nolan has hit back at claims that ITV’s Loose Women is “toxic”, while sharing her belief that criticism comes from “jealousy”.
The 58-year old reacted to comments made by former panellists who have claimed that the popular ITV programme is “not a pleasant place to work”.
Speaking to The Mirror, Coleen responded: “It’s relentless, and I think it’s very sad because it seems to be a lot of women bashing other women.
“They go on about ‘Oh it’s toxic’, it’s been running for 24 years or something, if it was that toxic, trust me, being the person I am, I wouldn’t be there.”
She went on to explain: “I left for a year, years ago, because I wasn’t enjoying it. But that had nothing to do with the panel that was to do with more to do with people behind the scenes at the time.”

Coleen feels “really sad” to see people criticising Loose Women, citing “jealousy” as a possible reason.
She added: “There is nothing toxic, I wouldn’t be there, you couldn’t sit on that panel and be yourself and have a laugh and have a joke or certainly have a row about something if you didn’t get on.
“So I think it’s really sad that people feel they have to knock it and that show in particular, the one show that’s so representative of women.
“I don’t know why they’re so determined to knock it all the time, maybe it’s jealousy.”

Coleen has been a panellist on Loose Women since 2000 and over the years a number of TV personalities have come and gone on the panel.
Included in this is Carol McGiffin, who last appeared in March this year, and Saira Khan, who left the ITV show in 2021.
Carol, 63, recently opened up about the reason why she left the long-running show, claiming that she wasn’t allowed to express her views on Loose Women.
During a TV interview with Dan Wootton on GB News, she said: “I can say that over the last three years especially I’ve been…I wouldn’t say censored, but I have been restricted in what I could say.”
