Tony Maudsley, 53, was stunned watching Coronation Street last night, as Imran Habeeb’s (played by Charlie de Melo) one-night stand was revealed as Abi Franklin (played by Sally Carmen). The George Shuttleworth actor admitted he did not see the plot twist coming and the experience has taught him to read until the end of his scripts.

Sharing a photo of Imran and Abi, Tony typed: “O to the M to the G!!! Well, I didn’t see THAT coming @itvcorrie just a second while I pick my chins up off the floor!!

“That’ll teach ME not to read to the end of my scripts!!!!!”(sic).

In response, fans said they loved how the actor was a keen fan of his own show.

User @ljames1953 typed: “Must be fun when you are doing a job you love and still manage to get joy out of watching the show, you are fab in it by the way. Keep out of the way of any floods in the street.”

Cheating solicitor Imran finally confessed his whereabouts to his shocked girlfriend Toyah Battersby (played by Georgia Taylor).

He came clean after being blackmailed by ex-wife Sabeen, (played by Avita Jay) who knew he had been up to no good.

Sabeen was using her knowledge to get Imran to help her with Harvey Gaskell’s appeal case.

But the truth was finally revealed during Wednesday night’s double trip to Weatherfield.

As he popped out to get some shopping, Imran was seen making a phone call, demanding the person on the other end meet him.

Down a dark alley, Imran waited for the mystery women – for Abi to come walking out of the darkness.

Abi shouted at him for coming clean as he asked if she was going to tell her fiancé Kevin Webster (played by Michael Le Vell).

But the grieving mum said she had enough to think about as she plots her revenge against her son’s killer, Corey Brent (played by Maximus Evans).

This leaves the question of whether she will ever tell Kevin, as well as what will happen if Toyah finds out the truth.

Before that, Imran told Toyah that he only slept with some random woman in a hotel and couldn’t remember a thing, and she already said that she wasn’t sure she could trust him again.

What makes it even more devastating is that the couple were meeting their new foster child, Elsie, that day.

Now, fans are thinking a pregnancy twist could be in the pipeline.

“Well, that was a shocker… I didn’t see that coming – I bet Abi is pregnant. @sallycarman1 @CharlieDemelo #Corrie,” tweeted one.

Another said: “Knew it was Abi !! You know what’s going to happen here. Abi will become pregnant and it will be is it Kevin’s or Imran and it will be Imran’s and him and Toyah will want to adopt the child. #Corrie @sallycarman1 @CharlieDemelo @RealGeorgiaT.”(sic)

“What if Abi is pregnant? #Corrie,” another soap fan asked.

A fourth predicted: “Abi to get pregnant to Imran? Toyah to eventually adopt said baby? I love me some Corrie. The gift that keeps on giving. I bet you’re loving it there, eh!”(sic).

“I guess the next thing will be Abi Pregnant by Imran,” another agreed.
