Strictly: Craig on why he scored Angela with a nine
Craig Revel Horwood has caused a stir amongst Strictly fans when he outscored his fellow judges on Saturday night by awarding Angela Rippon nine points.
In a chat with the judges, Claudia asked Craig, 58: “Something happened on Saturday night, because Angela and Kai danced and you scored higher than your fellow judges. What I want to ask you genuinely is everything alright?”
Craig laughed before responding: “The demons came out darling.”
He then went on to say: “No, I loved it. It’s a matter of opinion, I think, and that’s why there are four judges. And sometimes I will like these types of dances more than maybe the strictly ballroom ones. ”
He went on to justify his scoring saying: “What’s so difficult about that dance is not just the swivel but all the intricate timings as well. She danced with complete and absolute ease and that is difficult.
“I’m not giving Angela a nine because she’s 79, I think it was worth a nine, I absolutely loved it.”

Craig, who is usually known for his harsh scoring, awarded Angela and Kai the impressive score for their Charleston, which they performed to the Murder She Wrote theme tune.
Whilst fellow judges Anton, Shirley and Motsi all awarded the couple eight points.
Following the live show, Claudia commented: “Craig scored higher than the other judges. I don’t think he’s ever done that or he’s done it once eight years ago. It’s certainly Halloween.”

During his feedback after the dance, Craig said that Angela gave a “swivel masterclass”.
Whilst Shirley Ballas praised her moves, saying: “There’s absolutely no stress watching you dance, you are absolutely delightful on the eye.”
Before going on to point out her mistakes, commenting: “But there were a couple of mistakes in there, weren’t there Angela? We have to be fair to everybody, we’re almost at the halfway mark. But you were absolutely stunning.”
This comes after criticism that Angela only does “slow dances” on Strictly.
Speaking on Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, Angela hit back at viewers who complained saying: “Well, we did the Quickstep, there’s a clue in the title, and we did the very first dance which was the Cha Cha Cha.”
Before partner Kai, 28, said: “We have something fast [this weekend], it’s going to be fun and we’re going to go for a bit of comedy as well.
“Make no mistake, Angela is doing lots of steps to a fast Charleston and she’s being very much lifted over my head more than once with another trick in there!”
Before Angela quipped: “Also, of course, dance isn’t all just about being fast and running around a ballroom, it’s about technique, it’s about precision, and that’s what we’ve done, I think in the last two particularly.
“While it may not look as if it’s very exhausting, to actually get that physical muscular precision when you’re doing things like the Rumba, the Argentine Tango, requires a heck of a lot of energy in a different way!”
