Strictly Come Dancing star Dan Walker got up bright and early today to do his day job of presenting BBC Breakfast, before heading to the rehearsal room to learn his week two routine. Following the exit of his long-term co-host Louise Minchin, the TV star is hosting today’s show with Sally Nugent.
He took to social media this morning to share a snap of himself and Sally on the famous red sofa before sharing an update on his Strictly training.
“On the #BBCbreakfast sofa with @sallynugent this morning.
“Lots to talk about so grab a brew and join us on BBC 1,” he wrote, in view of his 724,600 Twitter followers.
Dan’s BBC colleague Rachel Burden took to the comments section of the post to congratulate the star on his dancing debut and to ask how he was getting on this week.
“How are the legs feeling? Amazing effort on Saturday,” she wrote alongside a clapping emoji.
Dan admitted that he was finding this week’s training quite hard.
“Legs are a bit weary. I’ll be honest with you… I am really struggling with this week’s dance.
“Nothing went in yesterday. I was just a sweaty mess,” he added, with a laughing and dancing emoji.
“Back at it today with @NadiyaBychkova so hopefully something will click,” he went on to add.
On Instagram, he went into a bit more detail about his second routine.
“It’s incredibly technical and I have to get my body into all sorts of positions it has never been in before.
“It’s amazing how much work goes into making it look like it isn’t much work,” he remarked.
At the weekend, Dan impressed the judges and viewers at home with his very first performance on the Strictly dance floor.
He danced the Quickstep with his partner Nadiya Bychkova to Everybody Needs Somebody To Love by The Blues Brothers.
The couple were fifth on the leaderboard after scoring 24 points from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke.
Father-of-three Dan also managed to impress his family with his fast-paced routine on Saturday night.
Following his performance, the presenter revealed that his daughter had cried while watching him dance.
His kids had previously warned the BBC star not to embarrass them on the show.
It comes after Dan admitted that his Strictly training had been very much out of his comfort zone.
“On day 1 of filming 6 weeks ago I felt so uncomfortable, if the door had been open, I would have legged it,” he said in a social media update.
Ultimately, he went on to enjoy the experience and said he was looking forward to dancing on the live show again.
“It’s been amazing to work with @NadiyaBychkova & I can’t wait for the next one,” he added.
Nadiya also said she was “so proud” of her partner.
