Davina McCall reveals she set her BBQ on fire
Davina McCall has addressed the burning question of why she won’t be hosting Big Brother this year, after it was announced that it would return to the nation’s TV screens, with AJ Odudu and Will Best taking on her role instead.
“Of course I would have done it,” she exclaimed during an interview on the Chris Moyles Show.
However, she continued: “I’m being really honest now, but in retrospect, I don’t think it would have been the right fit for me.
“It’s come a long way since I hosted it and I am a different person.”
Davina still plays a regular role on primetime television, with her latest appearance being on the gripping ITV dating show My Mum, Your Dad.
However, fans who had watched Big Brother since its 2000 debut seem to be as “nostalgic” as she revealed she has been, as some have forlornly called for her return.

Davina took pride of place from the day the first ever episode aired on Channel 4, but she left when the show transferred to Channel 5 in 2011, and her role was taken over by Emma Willis.
Then in 2018, Big Brother was taken off air altogether, only for its unexpected return on ITV2 to be announced.
However, Davina had previously spoke out in Stylist magazine to say that she wasn’t “upset” about leaving it behind as she was “over” the show – and that Channel 4 had given her a “gift” by ending her contract.
As excited fans await its October relaunch date, Davina has explained that she’s had a word with one of the presenters in order to “pass on the baton”.
“I spoke to AJ, I had to remind her that I used to do the show when it started,” she shared.

“It was quite daunting, so I wanted to give her my blessing. I know that I didn’t need to, but I wanted to pass on the baton.”
She made the candid admission that she’d been unsure about the pairing of AJ and Will – but quickly changed her mind when she saw them together at this month’s National Television Awards (NTAs).
“Seeing them together, I thought, ‘OK, I get it’, because it’s all about the connection with the people,” she told Chris.
She added that she believes the show is in “safe hands” with AJ, who previously presented Big Brother’s Bit On The Side with Emma Willis and Rylan Clark-Neal back in 2013.
“You guys have MY PERMISSION to really get into it,” Davina enthused, adding: “Let’s get behind it, people!”
AJ has already been getting herself in the public eye ahead of the show’s relaunch by attending a string of glamorous events.
Only yesterday, the 35-year-old was spotted alongside Ellie Goulding at the Lumule Foundation x Amal Jewellery Collection launch in London, looking sensational in her cut-out dress.
AJ has also landed herself a role presenting a new six-part series celebrating British female Olympians, titled Sporty AF.
The star-struck host stated in the first episode, which debuted on Team GB’s YouTube channel, that she felt “honoured to be in the presence of such incredible athletes”.
