Former royal butler Paul Burrell said he's "haunted" by the memory of private moments he shared with Princess Diana when she confided in him some of her deepest secrets.
Paul, 64, was Diana’s butler for 10 years up until her death in 1997 and worked closely with the royal family for over 20 years.
Now, Paul has said he wants to meet up with the two princes to tell them everything he knows about their mother and her secrets.
Paul, who the late Diana referred to as her “rock”, has revealed that he's terrified that he may take those secrets to his grave, never getting the chance to tell the late princess’ sons William and Harry what he knows about their mother, as he was diagnosed with prostate cancer last summer and is awaiting surgery later this month.
Paul told the Mirror: “She confided in me and there are many things I have never spoken about, but now I feel the time is right.
“I think what I have to say could bring the boys back together, which Diana would have desperately wanted. I will only tell them the truth, that is all. I am not looking for anything in return.”
Paul said he would like to “try and do my bit” to see them reconciled and fill in any gaps they might have in their memories.
He said: “Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see the boys repair their relationship and to be back where they should be? The public would love that. I’d applaud that."
The princes have become increasingly estranged since Harry moved to the US with wife Meghan Markle, 41, in 2020.
Their relationship also seem to have become increasingly estranged after the multiple tell-all interviews Prince Harry has made about him leaving his royal duties behind.
In January, Prince Harry also released his shocking memoir Spare which talked about his life growing up in the royal family and how he later came to leave that life behind.
At the time, Paul said the prince had "lost the plot" in the wake of the publication of Spare. He also talked about the fact that Harry had referred to Paul as "mummy's butler".
Paul told Lorraine: "I was bewildered by it. He’s known me all his life as ‘Paul’. He knew how much I loved his mother and protected her memory, he knows all of that.
"Why did he call me ‘mummy’s butler?’ Why couldn't he have asked, come to me personally and said he wasn't happy with the situation?"
Paul continued: "I’ve always defended him down to the last minute and now I’m thinking, ‘Harry, you’ve lost the plot.’ What’s happened? There's been a shift in that young man, he's changed and I’m saddened by it."
