Previously, it’s revealed that the Canadian hip-hop star threatened to slap his impersonator a.k.a. Izzy Drake ‘for free’ after turning down an offer to a $1 million boxing match.
AceShowbiz –Drake is serious when he told Fake Drake a.k.a. Izzy Drake to stop impersonating him. The “Certified Lover Boy” artist has finally slapped his doppelganger with a cease and desist letter.
On Monday midnight, October 24, Izzy made use of his Instagram page to upload a photo of the notice while celebrating Drake’s 36th birthday. The document read, “NOTICE TO CEASE AND DESIST. Dear IzzyyDrake, this letter serves as notice of your unauthorized use of the trademark, ‘OVO’ to promote your brand and likeness, as well as your unauthorized fabrication of media which is Per Se damaging and defamatory to our brand.”
“Your conducted actions are unwarranted, unwelcome, and inacceptable,” it continued. “In addition, this shall serve as a pre-suit letter demanding that you provide us written assurance within 7 days that you will cease and desist from making any further factually untrue statements involving OVO SOUND and/or Drake, and that you will no longer fabricate media that portrays the aforementioned Trademarks.”
In the caption of the post, Izzy wrote, “Happy birthday to the greatest artist in history and my biggest inspiration.” He went on saying, “I got this cease and desist letter from OVO couple days ago and as a respectful b day gift to @champagnepapi I changed my name from IzzyyDrake to Izzyyfamous,” before concluding, “More life my OVO brother @preme @bakanotnice @tvgucci.”
Prior to this, Izzy revealed that Drake once threatened to slap him “for free” after the Canadian rapper turned down a $1 million boxing match. “I pulled up to Drake’s hotel room, let’s just say it wasn’t very inviting,” Izzy said on the “We in Miami” podcast aired in August. “They tried coming at us, they just tried coming at us so I ended up texting him, telling him about the fight and he said that he’s gonna go up and slap me for free.”
In June, Izzy directly challenged Drake to a $1 million boxing match. Izzy even promised that he’ll drop the impersonation if Drake loses the match. “It’s your boy Izzy Drake, OVO tings, you already know we outside. I just signed with Celebrity Boxing,” he said in the video. “August 27th, I’m calling Drake out for a friendly boxing match. If I win, you gotta sign me to OVO you gotta give me a million dollars. If you win, I’ll change my name. It’s an OVO ting, you already know.”
Izzy first caught the attention of the internet last year. In November 2021, the “One Dance” spitter look-alike claimed he was getting $5,000 to appear at parties. A few months later, he claimed yesterday’s price was not today’s price, boasting that $10,000 was his performance fee.
Fast forward to June this year, a video surfaced that appeared to show Izzy getting kicked out of a club in Houston. One month later, Izzy was banned from Instagram for impersonating the Grammy-winning rapper.
