You know you’ve got something truly special going on when Jamie Foxx lets you crash on his couch rent-free. One of the individuals to hold this unique distinction? Ed Sheeran. Yep, when he was just a wee up-and-comer, Ed impressed Jamie so much with his singing that he got to sleep on the Oscar Award-winning actor’s couch for multiple weeks. “Ed Sheeran slept on my couch for six weeks before he was famous,” Jamie revealed on The Graham Norton Show in 2017. “I said, ‘Listen, I know you don’t have anywhere to go, just chill here.’ I was giving him food and my daughter was like, ‘Who do you have over here now?’”

It really just goes to show that Ed is simply one of those people who was *destined* to be a star. In the years since Foxx-gate, Ed has catapulted to stardom in an unprecedented amount of time…and he definitely doesn’t need to crash on anyone’s couch anymore, because he has the net worth to show for it. Time to take a stroll through all the $$ successes Ed has had since Jamie Foxx did him a solid all those years ago.

Stating the obvious: Ed’s got a lot of popular music

In March 2017, Ed released his mega-hit album Divide, which was a massive commercial success…and that’s putting it lightly. It wound up being the third fastest-selling album in U.K. chart history, behind Adele and Oasis, per Celebrity Net Worth. One song you maaaaay or may not have heard of called “Shape of You” was *particularly* big. Like, named the number one charting song of the decade and the first-ever song to rack up more than 3 billion streams on Spotify big. To celebrate the latter feat in 2021, the singer took to Instagram, and said in a video to fans: “[‘Shape Of You’] wasn’t really meant to make the album but when I finished making the song, Ben Cook, from my label, said it had to be a single—but I wanted ‘Castle on the Hill’ to be the single. We put both songs out at once and…I was wrong. Here we are with ‘Shape of You’ at 3 billion.” Everyone say thank you to this Ben guy!

Ed has also collaborated with tons of fellow singers, which adds to his $$. Case in point? His 2019 single with Justin Bieber “I Don’t Care,” which debuted with nearly 11 million daily global streams on Spotify *and* is the largest first-day sum for any piece of music on the platform, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Also that year, the artist released his “No. 6 Collaborations Project,” which featured hits with everyone from Cardi B and Camila Cabello to Khalid and debuted at number 1 in the U.K., the U.S., and Australia. Oh, and if that’s not already mind-blowing enough, in December 2019, Ed was named artist of the decade by the Official Charts Company and Spotify named him the second-most-streamed artist of the decade, behind Drake as number one. With over 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify and most of his songs on the platform having over one billion plays, Ed has made an estimated average of $9 million dollars per song on Spotify. BRB, adding to Ed’s net worth rn by playing “I Don’t Care” on repeat even though I really, really do care about the wealth disparity between us 😭.

Oh, there’s also his touring $$$

Ed just so happens to v ~casually~ hold the record for the highest-grossing concert tour aka his Divide tour, which grossed $780 million between March 2017 and August 2019, per Forbes. “I’m in the music industry to play live,” he said at Amazon’s London office in 2014, per The Guardian. “That’s why I make records, that’s why I do radio interviews, that’s why I do Amazon events, that’s why I put things on Spotify. Having recorded music is fantastic, but playing live is where I buzz the most.” Obviously, beyond it being something that makes him happy, it also definitely makes him rich. In 2018 alone, the Divide tour made $432,398,856 and sold a total of 4,860,482 tickets, according to Pollstar. No thoughts, just 🤯🤯🤯 and 😭😭😭.

He was on The Voice, NBD

In 2021, Ed became a mentor on The Voice during the knockout rounds, which is a massive feat in and of itself. Sadly for me (bc I’m egregiously nosey), the total amount the singer earned on the reality TV competition isn’t publicly known, but he definitely received some $$ for his time.

Also, hi, there’s his acting career!

In 2014, Ed first dipped his toes into acting with a cameo role on the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street. Since then, he’s been seen in massive shows from Game of Thrones to The Simpsons and has even been in movies like Bridget Jones’s Baby and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

More recently, he starred in the romantic comedy Yesterday, a movie about a man who mysteriously wakes up in a world where The Beatles never existed…so he steals their songs. “If you look at that movie, the premise is a bloke who gets really, really, really famous ’round the world, and it’s a bit unbelievable that he got really, really famous ’round the world…[he] comes from Suffolk…so there are all these factors in it where I was like, ‘Has [Richard] sort of written this about me?’” Ed said on BBC Radio 1 in 2021, per People, of the film’s writer Richard Curtis, who lives in the singer’s native Suffolk and knows both him and his wife Cherry Seaborn.

Ed is a hit songwriter for other artists

Some of Ed’s most notable songs? “Everything Has Changed” from Taylor Swift’s Red, One Direction’s “Moments” from their debut album, *plus* “Little Things,” “Cold Water” by Major Lazer, and the Weeknd’s “Dark Times.” The talent!

We also need to talk about ketchup (yes, ketchup)

One of Ed’s tattoos is a tribute to Heinz ketchup, and like the savvy businessman he is, he decided to capitalize on it in 2019 when he partnered with the brand on a limited-edition set of bottles that were adorned with artwork of his ink. Though a few lucky fans were gifted the novelty item, others cost up to $1,800 a piece, per Forbes.

So what is Ed Sheeran’s net worth?

That would be a cool *pauses for dramatic effect* $200 million according to Celebrity Net Worth. 🤯

An-y-way, gotta go think of creative sponsorship deals and get rich quick inspo ideas.
