Tragic: Nicholas has had a difficult few years, after losing his son Archie at the age of 19 following a brain haemorrhage
‘I warned them in America. I said, ‘Wait until this guy gets here. You’ll be doing a scene with him and suddenly you realise he’s just run off with it’.
‘He’s an extraordinary actor, a dear friend. And I am so pleased he’s part of it.’
Nicholas has had a difficult few years, after losing his son Archie at the age of 19 following a brain haemorrhage.
It was then claimed he was considering retiring from acting following the tragic loss.
At the time the actor’s close friend, writer Laurence Marks, said that Nicholas may not return to public life after his heartache, something the actor’s camp insists is ‘ridiculous’.
Laurence told the Daily Star: ‘Nicholas underwent tragedy. It must have broken his heart. It would break anyone’s heart.
‘He has always kept himself to himself and now he’ll do that more than ever. Now he’s lost his son, he’ll never come out again. I doubt we will see him do any more acting.’
However, a representative for Nicholas told MailOnline: ‘It is complete nonsense that Nicholas Lyndhurst is retired or retiring.

The show will also feature Jack Cutmore-Scott as the psychotherapeutic radio presenter’s son Freddy Crane.
Freddy is described as a mixture of his father and his grandfather, Marty Crane, a role played by John Mahoney, who passed away in 2019 aged 77 from complications from throat cancer.
The offspring of Frasier’s character description reads: ‘Years ago, Freddy rejected following in his father’s footsteps—dropping out of college to become a fireman—and he’s never looked back until now, when recent troubles have left him with no one to turn to in his life.’
Other cast members include Jess Salgueiro as Freddy’s roommate Eve and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew David.
News of the series – which will not involve former stars David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves or Peri Gilpin – was confirmed earlier this year after speculation dating back to 2021.

In October Kelsey said the absence of the original series’ other big stars will be dealt with on the show.
He said: ‘We’ll certainly be responsive about the fact that there was a brother and such. But the new world for Frasier is one of new friendships — and some new twists and turns he didn’t know were still in there.’
Frasier first appeared in hit US sitcom Cheers from 1982 to 1993 before getting his own show from 1993 to 2004.
Paramount+ confirmed the reboot had been in development in February 2021, with Kelsey announcing last July that the scripting was underway.
