Much-loved vocalist Florence Welch has opened up on the life-saving surgery she was forced to undergo last week after having no choice but to cancel some of the shows of her Dance Fever tour.
The Florence and The Machine frontwoman explained to her 2.2 million Instagram followers today (Sunday 27 August) that she'd gone under the knife for a health concern she wishes to keep private for the time-being.
In the post, the continued: "I'm so sorry that I had to cancel the last couple of shows. My feet are fine, I had to have emergency surgery for reasons I don't really feel strong enough to go into yet, but it saved my life.
"And I will be back to close out the Dance Fever tour in Lisbon and Malaga. (Maybe not jumping so much but you can do that for me) [heart emoji]".
The 36 year old 'You've Got The Love' singer added: "Suffice to say I wish the songs were less accurate in their predictions. But creativity is a way of coping, mythology is way of a making sense."
Chart-topper Florence then cryptically added another message, which she hoped would be understood by her devoted fans.
"And the dark fairytale of Dance Fever, will all its strange prophesies, will provide me with much needed strength and catharsis right now."
Last weekend, the singer cancelled her performances at Zurich's Open Air Festival, as well as Rock en Seine, in France, revealing that "on medical advice", she was forced to remain at home.
On another Instagram post, the star bluntly wrote: "Sadly on medical advice, Florence + The Machine will not be able to perform this weekend at Zurich Open Air Festival on 25 Aug and Rock En Seine on 256 Aug. We appreciate your understanding and patience."
Florence tragically broke her foot whilst performing as part of her tour at London's O2 Arena, leading her to postpone the rest of the dates and leaving her "heartbroken".
Writing on social media at the time, she told her fans: "I'm so sorry to say that after an X ray it seems I was dancing on a broken foot last night.
"It is not in my nature to postpone a show, and certainly not a UK tour, but I'm in pain and as dancers know, dancing on an injury is not a good idea. And have been told not to perform to avoid further damage."
Florence added at the time: "Please hang on to your tickets. We are working our hardest to reschedule these dates for next year and we will let you know as soon as possible.
"I'm heartbroken as the Dance Fever tour has been my favourite show we have ever put on. The communion with you. Your beautiful faces shining."
She also gushed in the emotional post: " love you so much, and I'm so sorry to anyone who is disappointed. My heart is aching. I can't wait to be back on my feet and back in your arms."
The star had previously broken her foot during a performance at Coachella music festival in April 2015.
