BBC Sport host Gabby Logan has shared her heartache and frustration over being stuck in Budapest due to the air traffic control failure.
The star found herself amongst hundreds of thousands of other airline passengers struggling to travel to and from the UK on Bank Holiday Monday.
She took to X, formerly known as Twitter, Gabby opened up on how she was yearning to reunite with her husband Kenny Logan and their children, after spending nearly three weeks away from home for work.
The mum-of-two told fans: “On a plane on the runway at Budapest airport. After almost three weeks away from home, I am hours from hugging my family.
“And have just been told UK airspace is shut.”

She added: “We could be here for 12 hours. So we sit on the plane and wait.”
Despite the upsetting situation, Gabby managed to follow-up her post with a more light-hearted tweet.
“Now regretting my decision to miss breakfast,” the presenter quipped.
Gabby had been staying in the Hungarian city to cover the World Athletics Championships.

NATS, the national air traffic controllers, spoke out in a statement on the failure, which stated: “We are currently experiencing a technical issue and have applied traffic flow restrictions to maintain safety.
“Engineers are working to find and the fix the fault. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
