In a handwritten note shared to GBBO’s Twitter, Maxy wrote: ‘Still finding it hard to believe that I actually made it to the tent.

‘Having gotten so far in the competition, I would have obviously loved to have made it to the finals, however am super proud of how far I managed to come.

‘I really stepped out of my comfort zone applying for Bake Off, and am honestly so glad I did!

‘Got to meet Dame Prue, Paul, Noel and Matt, and had the best time of my life. If you are considering to apply, I suggest that you do so because you could be here next year.

Kind: One viewer tweeted afterwards: ‘You will be missed Maxy, I was convinced you’d be in the final but you’ve done so well to get this far’

‘Along the way, I have grown and become more confident as a person, gained new friends and left the tent a better baker.

‘Thank you to all that have supported me, love you all. To the team, you are amazing, thank you for making this such a lovely experience.

‘Lots of love, your Quarter Finalist.’

Sandro, Abdul, Janusz and Syabira remain in the competition.
