Model and fitness influencer Gemma Atkinson, 36, has detailed the moment a former Hollyoaks colleague threatened to sell stories about her and the cast, as they were unhappy their contract had not been renewed. Speaking on Steph’s Packed Lunch this morning, the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant revealed that nearly 20 years on from the situation, she is still hesitant to share any details of her life with her former co-star, as any trust between them has been broken.

That trust has gone completely

Speaking to Steph McGovern and her guests, Gemma candidly spoke about her experiences in moving on from relationships.

She said: “For me personally, I always think that the best revenge is just moving on and showing people how happy you are, whether it’s a relationship, or work.

“I’ve been in a situation when I did Hollyoaks – so I’m going back 17, 18 years ago – there was a certain cast member who was asked to leave, and they did.”

However, the star revealed that the actor did not go quietly and threatened to sell stories about the Channel 4 show’s cast members.

She continued: “We found out through the powers that be in the studios that said cast member was going to sell stories on the cast and what happened and what went on, because obviously they were bitter about not having their contract renewed.”(sic)

Upon hearing the news, the fiancé of Strictly dancer Gorka Marquez confessed to being baffled at their reaction.

Gemma said: “At the time we were like, ‘Why would you collectively come after all of us when it’s one person who’s asked you to go?'”

Despite the claims, the influencer revealed that her former colleague decided not to go through with it – but it was still enough to break her trust.

“It turned out they didn’t do it but to this day now, when I bump into them and they say, ‘How’s such a body, what have you been up to?’ I still think, ‘Do you really think I want to tell you anything now?'”(sic) she added.

“That trust has gone completely,” Gemma admitted.

“Like I say, for me, I just go on quietly, but it does depend on the situation of how close you were and what dirty was done.”

The star shot to fame playing Lisa Hunter on the Channel 4 drama in the early 2000s and has since starred in other soaps, such as Casualty and Emmerdale.

Before appearing on the talk show, Gemma took to social media and admitted she was struggling to apply her own make-up backstage due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

The model feared that she had ended up looking like she had been “punched” due to her uneven eyeshadow.

Looking stylish in a white slogan T-shirt and her hair styled in loose waves, Gemma said: “Because of COVID we have to do our own hair and make-up for the minute.

“Which puts me s**t out of luck, because I can’t do it. I can’t do it. What the f**k,” she laughed.

The star continued: “Do I look like a clown? I can’t put my own make-up on to save my life.”

The actress also recently got her hair cut after nearly four months of hairdressers being closed due to coronavirus lockdown measures.

Gorka was clearly impressed with his fiancée’s new locks, as he shared a number of heart eye emojis underneath her selfie.

While fans gushed over the snap, they asked her to share the secrets behind her new colour.
