Glastonbury 2024 ‘line up’ so far: The rumoured headliners and big names for next year’s festival

As Glastonbury Festival is set to return in 2024, here is everything you need to know about the rumoured headliners and how you can get a hold of tickets and when.

The hotly-anticipated festival will be taking place from Wednesday June 26 to Sunday June 30, 2024.

Last year, revellers enjoyed the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Elton John, who played his last ever UK gig on the Pyramid stag to close the 2023 edition of the festival.

Rick Astley, Lil Nas X, Blondie, Lizzo and Aitch were joined by hundreds more performers across the weekend, proving to be an enviable line-up and giving many of those who didn’t attend FOMO.

Who are the rumoured headliners?

Madonna, Dua Lipa and Coldplay are the first rumoured headliners that are expecting to step on stage next year, The Mail on Sunday exclusively revealed.

After months of discussion, the three iconic singers are reportedly set to appear on the Pyramid Stage, though the official line-up hasn’t yet been revealed.

One festival insider said: ‘It’s the dream line-up, a brilliant mix of different music and different atmospheres. Then, of course, you have Madonna on the final night, which will be epic.’

If she takes to the stage in 2024, it will be the first time that Madonna, 65, has performed at the festival, which is held at Worthy Farm, Somerset. If Dua, 28, performs, it will be her first appearance as a headline act.

Coldplay 

Coldplay are said to be in the running to headline on the Saturday. 

Coldplay have headlined four times before – in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2016. 

Glastonbury bosses have been accused of choosing too many male acts to headline. Last year the line-up was all male, with Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Sir Elton John taking the top slots.

Madonna 

Madonna is said to be in the running to close the music extravaganza on the last night, according to the Mail On Sunday.

Speaking last month, organiser Emily Eavis, daughter of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, revealed that a huge US star’s team, believed to be Madonna’s, had got in touch with her saying that she was free.

She said: ‘2024 is still a little up in the air, and I thought it was taking shape, then last week I just got a call, and this is what happens if you wait a little longer, because often we’ll be booked up from July.

‘This year we’re holding out for a little bit longer and last week I got a call from a really big American artist saying this person’s around next year, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible.’ Thank God we held the slot.’

Dua Lipa

British singing sensation Dua is said to be under consideration for Friday’s top act, though the official line-up hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Earlier this year, Dua found herself embroiled in controversy after she failed to join Sir Elton John on the Glastonbury stage for their duet Cold Heart. 

Fans claimed there must have been a falling-out between the pair, though Dua insisted she was just working in New York.

Addressing the lack of women headliners, Emily previously said: ‘I’ve always been really passionate about gender split [on festival line-ups] and I think, actually, our problem was that I’d been so outspoken about it that having a year when there wasn’t a female sent people a bit mad – or some people.

‘And we did have a female – she pulled out and we replaced them with Guns N’ Roses. But everyone knows that it’s top of my list.

‘It is difficult with female artists because there aren’t enough headliners. But we’re also creating them. We’re putting the bands and female artists on smaller stages and bringing them through all the time. And who knows? Next year we might get two. And certainly, I can say that the Legend is female.’

When will I be able to get a ticket?

This year, anyone wanting to attend the festival must pre-register first to be able to get a ticket – via their website.

Fans can buy tickets at 6pm on Thursday 16 November – including coach travel – via Glastonbury’s partnership with ticket operator SeeTickets.

Those who aren’t wanting travel can purchase a general admission ticket at 9am on Sunday 19th November.

Tickets were scheduled to go on sale on November 2 but were pushed back two weeks just hours before it was due to go up.

The highly-anticipated sale was postponed after some customers did not realise their registration had expired or deleted earlier this month.

Tickets are sold exclusively from glastonbury.seetickets.com, so make sure to not spend a fortune on illegitimate tickets elsewhere. 

Glastonbury has limited the amount of tickets per transaction to six.

How much are tickets? 

Ticket prices for Glastonbury 2024 are still to be announced, however, in 2023, a general admission full weekend ticket was £335 plus an additional £5 booking fee – so the price next year is likely to be similar (if not more).

You can pay a £50 deposit to secure your ticket and then pay the rest off in instalments until April 2024, when the remaining balance must be paid. 

The festival also has an option to buy a coach ticket to get to the famous Worthy Farm, which usually costs between £40 and £150, depending on your starting point.
