The Royal Family are in a “state of sadness” and “fear” over what’s to be revealed next week in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ’s new documentary series, it’s been claimed.
The first three episodes of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix project dropped on Thursday 8 December, with several bombshells that are said to have left the royals concerned with what’s more come.
Royal insiders have accused Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, of “inflammatory assaults” in the documentary, aimed to “bring down the monarchy”, and have been left particularly upset by the criticism of the late Queen and her Commonwealth, dubbed ‘Empire 2.0’.
The Netflix series came about in a multimillion-pound deal for Harry and Meghan. The pair have described the documentary as an account of their love story.
Critics have thought otherwise, as the first three episodes discussed the invasion and mistreatment of the British press towards Meghan, and the unconscious bias of racism within the royal institution and country’s media.
One royal insider told The Times “next will be poison”, speaking on the upcoming episodes of the Sussexes’ documentary, and has called the couple “shameful and cowardly” for their series, which they started filming on from March 2020.
“They even came over to mark Her Majesty’s Jubilee while colluding with the filmmakers, without telling her what they were doing,” they said.
“That’s shameful and cowardly. There are a lot of people who are glad the late Queen is not here to see it.”
Another source said: “It looks as if they want to bring down the monarchy. What else could they hope to achieve by this? It was a sly and insidious attack from start to finish.”
A former royal adviser agreed that the series is an attack, however pointed out that the attack is not on the Queen herself, but her legacy.
At the beginning of the first episode, it was stated that ‘Members of the Royal Family declined to comment on the content within this series.’
It’s since been claimed by a senior palace source that the Royal Family were not contacted at all about the Netflix documentary.
Elsewhere, in the episodes, Harry and Meghan directed the royals has having a “huge level of unconscious bias”. Meghan also claimed that the Palace planted “salacious stories” in the media, in effort to “destroy” her.
