Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be looking into making their own romantic comedies and “feel-good” TV – but the two royals won’t be starring.
Meghan, 41, and Harry, 38, made waves late last year with the tell-all Netflix series Harry & Meghan, to later release another series titled Live to Lead which was produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s company, Archewell Productions.
The Harry & Meghan documentary was based on the married couple’s love story and their time as senior royals, but they took a step back for Live to Lead and simply narrated the series – in addition to producing – which focused on world leaders.
Now they’re reportedly wanting to expand on their production skills and want to create their own rom-coms and light-hearted TV series.
“There will be more of a heavy focus on fictional, scripted content,” a source told The Telegraph.
“It will be rom-coms, feel good and light-hearted programmes.”
OK! have contacted Meghan and Harry’s foundation Archewell for comment.
Both Meghan and Harry have previously voiced their love of light hearted TV shows and films, with dad-of-two Harry admitting that, like many of us, he used to binge watch Friends.
Meanwhile, Meghan is a huge fan of cult classic, When Harry Met Sally, and insists she’s seen “all the Julia Roberts’ rom-coms”.
Speaking to Variety last year, the former Suits actress said she and Harry don’t always want to create such serious shows.
When asked what she thinks would be an ideal project for Archewell, Meghan, who admitted that “people love love”, said: “For scripted, we want to think about how we can evolve from that same space and do something fun! It doesn’t always have to be so serious. Like a good rom-com. Don’t we miss them? I miss them so much. I’ve probably watched ‘When Harry Met Sally’ a million times. And all the Julia Roberts rom-coms. We need to see those again.”
The pair’s love of love became apparent when they recently made a low-key appearance at close pal Ellen DeGeneres’ vow renewal to wife, Portia De Rossi, 50.
The star-studded bash was held at Portia and Ellen's $70million Montecito mansion, which is just a stone's throw away from Meghan and Harry's own home.
The vow renewal, which came as surprise to Ellen, 65, was officiated by the couple's pal Kris Jenner, and featured a performance by Brandi Carlile.
In a video posted to The Ellen Show's YouTube channel, Harry and Meghan can briefly be seen celebrating after the ceremony.
