Prince Harry andMeghan Markle “look happy” but there is still resentment between them and theRoyal Family that needs resolving, a royal expert has revealed.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, speaking exclusively to OK!, said that while the Duke and Duchess appear to be settled in the US, there is a ‘lot that needs to be said’ between the couple and the estranged members of The Firm.
Relations have been strained between the Sussexes and the Royal Family following the bombshell claims made in Harry’s bookSpare and the couple’s controversialNetflix documentary.
Tensions will have been heightened further after it emerged this week that King Charles has asked Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41,to vacate Frogmore Cottage – their UK home that was gifted to them by the lateQueen after they tied the knot in 2018.
As news of their eviction broke, the couple were pictured heading out for a date night to a lavish Hollywood members only club.
Jennie, speaking about the pictures, said: “They look very happy and I’m glad they are.
She added: “They’re living their life. I don’t think it was a conscious decision for them to go out just before the Frogmore story broke, no one is that calculated, but I’m glad to see they look very much together.
“They’re happy and settled over there but there’s a heck of a lot of resentment there between the family. There’s an awful lot that needs to be said.”
It has been reported that Harry and Meghan want anapology from the Royal Family before attending King Charles Coronation in May.
Sources have also said thatKing Charles and Prince WIlliam have no intention of making such an apology.
Jennie said: “Harry wants these apologies from William and his father. We have no idea whether those have been forthcoming. I very much doubt it.”
OK! has contacted the Sussexes' representatives for comment.
According to reports, the King wants theDuke and Duchess of Sussex out of Frogmore Cottage before his Coronation.
It was reported that the home willinstead be offered to Prince Andrew, 63, after it was revealed theDuke of Yorkisset to be moved from Royal Lodge in Windsor Park, where he has lived since 2003.
The shakeup of royal households is said to have left Meghan and Harry "stunned" whileAndrew is reportedly also against the move.
It comes amid the continuing fallout from Harry’s book Spare and with Andrew banned from royal duties over his connections to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Harry’s tell-all memoir brought anew round of attacks on the Royal Family – weeks after hisNetflix documentary series levelled a fresh round of damning claims against the monarchy.
Andrew, meanwhile, stepped down from public life in 2019 amid the fallout from hisBBC interview over his connections to Wall Street financier Epstein and the sexual assault allegations made against him by Virginia Giuffre.
Andrew denied the allegations and latercame to an out of court settlement, reportedly worth £12m, with Ms Giuffre. The settlement is not an admission of guilt.
