Harry could be set for another Oprah-style interview as TV network eyes ‘major coup’

Prince Harry is considering giving another Oprah-style interview to an American TV network in the new year, according to reports.

Harry’s name has been on everyone’s lips of late with his tell-all Netflix docuseries dropping on the streaming platform – with the second batch of episodes set to arrive tomorrow, Thursday 15 December.

That’s not all that's coming from the 38 year old former senior royal however as his memoir will hit shelves in January.

With this in mind, it’s said Harry’s “mulling over” the idea of conducting some interviews in a bid to promote his book, with wife Meghan Markle’s close friend and CBS News presenter Gayle King looking to be a likely interviewer.

A source told The Mirror: “Prince Harry is not stopping talking when the Netflix series is released. In a month, he will be out on the promotional trail again.

“Unlike now, where Netflix has let the show speak for itself, Random House has him on board for select promotion for the book.

"They invested more than $30m (£24m) in it, so they want it to appeal to as many people as possible.”

They went on: “Putting Harry on a primetime special with [Gayle] King would be a major coup and attract millions of eyeballs.

"One advantage is that she and Meghan are close. Harry would know he has support from her.”

Gayle is said to have attended Meghan's £160,000 baby shower in New York ahead of first born Archie’s arrival.

As well as Meghan’s ties to Gayle, Harry is close pals with former Gavin and Stacey star James Corden, putting him in the running for a tell-all interview too.

James’ chat show The Late Late Show is aired on CBS.

Harry’s upcoming memoir, titled Spare, is expected to “trample” on some members of the Royal Family.

The title bluntly alludes to the fact that Harry was the “spare” to his brother Prince William, the heir, and his story will, it’s promised, be told with “unflinching honesty” and will be “an honest and captivating personal portrait”.

Speaking ahead of its release next month, royal expert Jennie Bond said: “I'm afraid people are going to get trampled on by this book. Raw’ and ‘unflinching’ aren’t words the palace will be happy to hear.”

She went on: “And the word ‘spare’ is redolent of accusation – that he has felt sidelined and marginalised, and a victim of his birth. It’s very sad he should feel that.”
