Harry Potter author JK Rowling is one of many stars who has paid tribute to Helen McCrory following her death at age 52. The writer penned an emotional tribute on social media, calling the late actor “an extraordinary actress and a wonderful woman”.

McCrory’s death was confirmed by her husband Damien Lewis earlier today.

He wrote: “I’m heartbroken to announce that after an heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family.

“She died as she lived. Fearlessly. God we loved her and know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives.

“She blazed so brightly. Go now, Little One, into the air, and thank you.”

Following the announcement, tributes have been pouring in for the star who is well known for both Peaky Blinders and Harry Potter.

In the saga, she played Narcissa Malfoy in the final three films.

The author of the books Rowling paid tribute on social media, writing: “I’m devastated to learn of the death of Helen McCrory, an extraordinary actress and a wonderful woman who’s left us far too soon.

“My deepest condolences to her family, especially her husband and children. Simply heartbreaking news.”
