Helen Skelton jokes about Richard Madeley reading her book
Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton said goodbye to Channel 4’s coverage of Super League Rugby.
Posting an emotional behind the scenes montage of the popular sports show to her 490,000 followers, she thanked the team for their support.
Captioning the video, she wrote: “What a two years!!!! THANK YOUUU @channel4 @img__media @superleague @rugbyfootballleague for giving us so much freedom and access.
“We have loved bringing Superleague live games to terrestrial telly. So much love and respect to @joeygardiner_ for steering the ship and crafting something special… our behind-the-scenes final aired at the weekend but the link is at the bottom of this ramble (and in stories).”
She then added: “If you’re a sports fan I hope you will enjoy it, and if you’ve been around pro sport you will understand some of the special hugs shared in this reel with people who have become family. Sport… it’s wonderfully, irrationally all consuming.”

Fans took to the comment section to share their disappointment at the news.
@aonia_eaves wrote: “Gutted to see the channel 4 coverage has ended. Breath of fresh air compared to sky and light years ahead of the bbc coverage which was painful for England v Tonga. Backward step taking it off channel 4 in my opinion. The infectious enthusiasm of you guys made it a pleasure to watch.”
Whilst @judycanoe added: “Loved your coverage of rugby league I hope you continue to do it.”
And @critchlm19 agreed, writing: “Really enjoyed the presentation (funny how Sky also adopted your ideas!). Good unbiased pundits. Fantastic commentary from Mark. A sad loss to Superleague”

Helen, 40, started hosting Channel 4’s Super League Rugby in 2022 following her split from Leeds Rhinos player Richie Mayer.
In an Instagram post in April last year, Helen confirmed that her husband of nine years had “left the family home”.
In an emotional statement, she wrote: “Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
The couple share three children together: Ernie, eight, Louis, five, and 19-month-old daughter Elsie.
Earlier this year, Helen also quit her BBC5 Live show to spend more time with her children.
But fans don’t need to worry as the former Blue Peter presenter is set to voice a new Fireman Sam character, Farmer Annie Morris.
Speaking about her new role, Helen said: “I’m thrilled to be a part of the Fireman Sam family and lend my voice to the spirited character of Farmer Annie Morris. This series is packed with adventures and important life lessons for kids, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
