No Time To Die actress Naomie Harris said she believes Tom Hardy should be the next James Bond.

Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine show on Tuesday the Moonlight actress 45, admitted that she’d ‘never worked with Tom before’ but is clearly a huge fan.

She added: ‘I think what he does is so special and technically difficult’.

‘He would make a great Bond but they always pic someone we don’t expect and is up and coming’. 

‘I reckon it will be someone totally unexpected and their name isn’t even in the  mix’. But I do think Tom would be amazing and if I could pick I would choose Tom’.

Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page is currently hot favourite to replace Craig as Bond when Daniel’s 15-year run as 007 ends after No Time to Die is released in September.

The former Bridgerton star, 31, is now just 4/5 in the betting stakes, as bookmakers tip Page to play the suave character next.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: ‘It’s looking increasingly likely Bond chiefs have made their minds up in the hunt for Daniel Craig’s replacement, with Rege-Jean Page now clear favourite in the betting.’

Hardy, at 4/1, is now the only other name priced shorter than 5/1 to land the role, having previously been a long-time favourite. 

Other names suggested by the bookmaker include James Norton who comes in at 5/1, Luke Evans at 6/1, Henry Cavill at 8/1 and Idris Elba at 10/1. 

Naomie’s comments come as it has been revealed that the search for a new James Bond won’t begin until 2022.

The iconic spy movie franchise’s producer, Barbara Broccoli, has insisted they will be holding off finding a new 007 to replace Daniel Craig.

The current Bond will take his Aston Martin for one more spin in No Time To Die, until at least next year.

Barbara told Radio 4’s ‘Today’ show on Tuesday: ‘We’re not thinking about it at all.

‘We want Daniel to have his time of celebration. Next year we’ll start thinking about the future.’   

Eon Production head and Barbara’s half-sibling Michael G. Wilson added: ‘He’s been such a great Bond. Those are big shoes to fill. I can’t even [think if it’s] possible.’

Last week, Barbara revealed Daniel only agreed to play Bond if he could be involved in ‘every part of the process’.

The 53-year-old actor – who will be making his fifth and final appearance as Ian Fleming’s fictional British spy in the movie which is released on Thursday.

The actor took some ‘persuading’ to take on the iconic role, because he knew it would change his life forever.

She continued ‘It took some persuading but eventually he sat with Michael and I. 

He said, ‘Well, If I am going to take this on, I want to be an integral part of the process.

I want to be involved in the scripts, I want to be involved in every element of the filmmaking.’
