I’m a Celebrity 2018: First images of new camp hint at scariest Bushtucker Trials yet as terrifying zip-wire and creepy House of Horrors are revealed

It’s set to return to screens in just over two weeks’ time, so it’s no surprise preparations are well underway for this year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! camp.

New aerial images taken above the ITV show’s base in New South Wales, Australia show that the next influx of famous campers have plenty to be scared about as the makings of some terrifying Bushtucker Trials were erected in various spots around the jungle.

While the vast site is still very much under construction, it’s clear the foundations are already in place as Declan Donnelly and his new co-host Holly Willoughby’s presenting hub is close to completion, while images also reveal a cable slide, that hangs more than 30m above ground, is also being set up.

There are also glimpses of the Bushtucker Trial sets, including a brand new House of Horrors and a selection of prop tombs with carved doorways that will no doubt be a part of another terrifying challenge for this year’s celebrity campers.

Stepping in: The next series will see the show face its biggest shake-up yet as Holly Willoughby prepares to fill in for Ant McPartlin as Declan Donnelly’s co-host as the TV presenter continues to take an extended break from TV

New and improved: A new House of Horrors has also been erected, which the show has revamped for 2018, while a large cage filled with colourful balls that will likely be used in the stars’ Celebrity Cyclone challenge could also be seen

The images follow The Mirror’s report that the next series of I’m a Celebrity will return on Sunday November 18.

Unlike previous years, the show, now on its eighteenth season, will see This morning host Holly stand in for Ant McPartlin as he takes an extended break from TV to continue with his recovery following a drink driving incident and his battle with alcohol and painkiller addiction.

The Celebrity Juice captain has been drafted in to replace him for the series, with her addition to the show being widely speculated and later confirmed in August.

Aware she has big shoes to fill, Holly – who is set to jet out to Australia any day now – recently admitted she was nervous about her new role and fears it will be a ‘disaster’.

She appeared in an interview alongside her This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield on Good Morning Britain, where they spoke about the daytime’s show upcoming changes as Rochelle Humes will stand in for Holly while she is away.

After admitting she had called Phil to ask his permission before accepting the job, Phil explained: ‘Holly phoned me up and said, “I’ve been offered this, what do you think?” and I said, “You have to take it!”‘

Holly added that she had ‘laughed’ over the phone, as Phil reminded her that she was heading to Australia where all her fears, like ‘flies’, are waiting to confront her.

Football manager Harry Redknapp, Coronation Street actress Sair Khan and The Chase star Anne Hegerty are just some of the celebrities rumoured to be entering the jungle later this month. It’s claimed Nick Knowles was the first celebrity to be signed up for the most expensive series.

The source said: ‘They think he’ll be a great camp-mate and will be full of stories about his famous pals, including the princes. Producers have been given slightly more to play with this year than normal. And this is a signing of intent to show other shows, such as Strictly, that even without Ant the show will still be strong.’

It had been reported by The Sun in July that Nick had been offered a six-figure payday in exchange for jetting to Australia for three weeks on the ITV mainstay.

An insider said at the time: ‘Women love him, men respect him – and it’d be interesting to see if he’s as practical in the camp as he is on a building site. He’s been offered the show a few times before, but this year they really want him on it so they’re bending over backwards and offering him big money.’
