Jacqueline Jossa has been left feeling “upset and embarrassed” after her big EastEnders comeback was overshadowed by husband Dan Osborne’s shock arrest.
A source close to the couple told us that while Jacqueline is standing by her hubby, she’s sad that her marriage is once again in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Dan was carted off by police and held overnight following a “mass brawl” at her 30th birthday party, which left one reveller with a broken jaw.
“Jacqueline will feel embarrassed about the whole thing,” our source said. “They’ve been portraying such a great family unit and they’ve been in a really good place recently. There hasn’t been any drama for a long time, so for this to come out and overshadow her TV return isn’t ideal.
“Jacqueline gets upset by people’s opinions. She’s got a thick skin, but it’s hard not to be bothered about what people say sometimes.”
Former TOWIE star Dan, 31, was arrested earlier this month after reportedly being involved in the 3.30am bust-up following Jacqueline’s “magical” 30th celebrations.
Police were called to the couple’s home and Dan was taken away in cuffs before being held overnight on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH). He was released on bail the following day.
A spokesperson for Dan said he “felt provoked during the incident and is confident he will clear his name”.
Dan took to Instagram as he shared a loved-up picture with Jacqueline from the celebrations.
He wrote, “I love you,” alongside the snap, to which Jacqueline replied, “My goodness I love you!! Xxx.” He also shared a pic of their daughters, Ella, seven, and Mia, four, alongside his son Teddy, eight, captioning it, “My [world].”
“Dan has been trying to keep a low profile, but Jac is standing by him,” our source said. “The Instagram posts show they’re putting on a united front. They would rather it had stayed private, but they’re still strong.”
The drama comes as former I’m A Celeb winner Jacqueline prepares to see her role as Lauren Branning reprised for a special one-off EastEnders episode, due to be screened next month. It’s a tribute to the late Albert Square icon June Brown, who played Dot Branning on the BBC soap.
The actress filmed her scenes in October and described being back on the set as “surreal, crazy and fun”.
Despite fans’ pleas for a permanent return for Lauren, who left Walford in 2018 to start a new life in New Zealand, Jacqueline said, “I have been and gone, there is no longer stint. But it was a lovely, lovely couple of moments.”
Putting the recent drama aside last week, Jac said she “can’t wait” to spend time with her “beautiful family” this Christmas, adding, “I feel like everything slows down perfectly around Xmas time and what really matters in life is at the front of everyone’s minds.”
