Former EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa has opened up on how cruel trolls have taunted her in social media comments.
Taking to her camera on the weekend, the 26-year-old explained how complete strangers had called her ‘fat and ugly’ to the point she’s had to turn off her comments and retreat from letting anyone have their say on her posts from here on out.
In the video uploaded, the mother-of-two fought back tears as she told fans that someone wrote on her page: ‘No wonder your husband doesn’t want to be with you.’
‘I get that on a daily basis and it does hurt, everything that people say to me hurts and it’s not nice.’
She added amid tears: ‘We are not in a great world and I’ve got children and I don’t want them to grow up in a scary place.’
The actress went on to defy critics who may have called to attention the fact she does press about her family and has to accept the good with the bad by adding she is allowed to choose.
‘There are certain aspects of my life that I don’t want to talk about,’ she said.
‘I don’t want to be told I’m fat and ugly, okay?’
Her encouragement to be nicer to one another comes after the tragic death of Love Island’s Mike Thalassitis, who died by suicide on 16 March. After that, it was found 38 reality stars and people linked to TV shows around the world died from suspected suicides – some linked to trolling.
Many others have called for better aftercare from showrunners in light of trolls and social media navigation.
Jac’s video also comes after husband Dan Osborne was forced to deny he had hooked up with Love Island’s Alexandra Crane recently.
‘Absolutely nothing happened with Alex – Dan has been friends for a while with her after working together,’ reps for Dan and Alexandra told Metro.co.uk earlier this month.
‘They all met up with friends and enjoyed a great night out like friends do.’
