Janette Manrara explains show absence after Aljaz’s emotional Strictly exit raises concern

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara is a regular presenter on Morning Live but was noticeably absent from the BBC show today. The 37-year-old has since taken to her Instagram Stories to explain why she was off and when she will be returning.

In view of her 473,000 followers, she began by telling fans she had “missed” them on the show today.

The Strictly: It Takes Two host said: “I had taken the day off to spend time for my birthday with Aljaz.

“I’m glad that I did because obviously he got eliminated at the weekend so,” she added, pulling a sad face.

“We’re spending the day together, he’s going to be on It Takes Two tonight.”

The dancer went on to say she’ll be back tomorrow on the show as usual.

Before her latest story, Janette said she was heartbroken following Aljaz and Sara Davies’ Strictly exit.

The dancing duo became the latest couple to depart after a dance off with Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin.

Janette’s husband sparked leaving rumours following his emotional speech on the results show last night.

He said: “I’m going to miss you so much, I’ll miss dancing with you.

“I’m going to miss everything about this show.”

Many of his 509,000 followers flocked to his post to comment.

Marilyn commented: “So so sad to see you both leave, loved your partnership.

“I hope that wasn’t a goodbye speech at the end, the show wouldn’t be the same without you Aljaz.”

Don Bags wrote: “I hope that wasn’t your goodbye to the show too Aljaz.

“You were both great. Hope to see you again next year x.”

Nichola4444 added: “Aww so sad to see you both go, such a wonderful partnership & I am sure you will be friends for life.”

This morning, Sara said she felt “lost” not being in training with her dance partner.

She added: “My Strictly journey has been an unbelievable experience and I wasn’t quite ready to finish it yet but you know what they say about all good things coming to an end.”

Celebrities still in the running to be crowned the winners are; Dan Walker, Rose Ayling-Ellis, AJ Odudu, Tom Fletcher, John Whiate, Rhys Stephenson and Tilly Ramsay.

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
