Jim Davidson, 67, branded Piers Morgan, 55, a “pathetic idiot” who he was “embarrassed to know” in a foul-mouthed rant in January, as the latter slammed the Government in a discussion about the UK coronavirus 100,000 death toll on Good Morning Britain. The presenter hit back at the comedian writing: “Hi Jim, Always good to hear your foul-mouthed, abusive, sexist, Boris-slathering views.”
Jim has now spoken out about Piers’ exit after he quit following 41,000 Ofcom complaints, over remarks he made about Meghan Markle.
On Twitter, the comedian said in a video: “It is another cancel culture, isn’t it? We don’t like the way you think Piers.
“I don’t like the way you think about certain things, but everyone is calling for you to go.”
Jim then discussed Piers’ clash with Alex Beresford, who discussed his experience with racism on the show yesterday after the Duchess of Sussex said there had been “concerns” in the palace about the colour of her son’s skin.
“You had to go,” he said of Piers indirectly. “Did you think they’d beg you to stay and ask him [Alex] to go?”
“It’s crazy, this is cancel culture,” he added.
Today, he followed up his post pretending to audition for the show as Piers’ replacement.
Speaking to the camera, he said: “Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Jim Davidson, I’ve been in showbusiness for 226 years.”
The comedian went on to discuss his career, adding: “I’m not without controversy and I am able to argue with people I don’t like.”
The former Big Break host added he had watched Good Morning Britain this morning and said there “is a loss Susanna Reid is trying to pick up”.
He added: “I noticed today she wouldn’t let anyone from Facebook answer, the ghost of Piers is still there.”
In a swipe at Alex, he suggested he wasn’t on the show today as he was “signing up to play the baddie in various pantos”.
Jim added he had been interviewed by Piers previously on Life Stories and claimed the pair got along fine.

“But I never quite knew what his motives were,” he added. “What he has done now has completely wrong-footed everybody by seemingly having a go at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.”
Jim went on to say Piers had kept the royal couple off all the newspaper front covers, due to his exit from Good Morning Britain.
Speaking for the first time since his departure today, the host said he had to agree to disagree with ITV over his departure.
According to The Sun, an ITV source claimed he refused to apologise for his comments about Meghan.
Speaking to reporters outside of his home, he said: “I had a good chat with ITV and we agreed to disagree.
“I’m just going to take it easy and see how we go.
“I believe in freedom of speech, I believe in the right to be allowed to have an opinion. If people want to believe Meghan Markle, that’s entirely their right.
“I don’t believe almost anything that comes out of her mouth and I think the damage she’s done to the British monarchy and to the Queen at a time when Prince Philip is lying in hospital is enormous and frankly contemptible.”
