John Corbett Reveals New Information About The Sex And The City Reboot

And just like that… the Sex and the City reboot is even more exciting than we originally thought! The reboot, aptly titled And Just Like That, was confirmed by HBO Max in January 2021 (via Entertainment Weekly), and since then, fans have been eagerly speculating about which stars would reprise their iconic roles.

Right off the bat, three of the series’ biggest stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis, signed on to return as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York, respectively. One of the biggest let-downs came with a confirmation that Kim Cattrall, who rounded out the friendship-foursome as Samantha Jones, would not reprise her role in the reboot. Though disappointing, the news didn’t surprise fans, as there have been rumors about a feud between Cattrall and her co-stars, specifically SJP.

Along with speculating about who would return to the series, fans have been wondering what the plot will be. According to EW, the show will follow the three friends “as they explore the complicated reality of life and friendship now in their 50s.” SJP also confirmed that the COVID-19 pandemic would “obviously be a part of the storyline.”

With several main stars returning and a general plot in mind, fans had one lingering question: what about the relationships? SATC star John Corbett, who played Aidan in the show and second film, spilled some pretty exciting news about whether or not he’ll be in the reboot — keep reading to see what he said.

John Corbett will reprise his role as Aidan Shaw

As fans await the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That, many wonder which significant others from the original series will make an appearance. As it turns out, we can anticipate seeing at least one familiar face: John Corbett, aka Aidan Shaw!

While speaking with Page Six on April 15, 2021, Corbett confirmed that he will be appearing in the series. “I’m going to do the show,” he explained, adding that the news is “very exciting.” When asked how many episodes he’ll be in, he said that he “might be in quite a few.” Corbett also added that he has fond memories of working on set and with the cast: “I like all those people, they’ve been very nice to me.”

Though news of Corbett joining the cast is exciting for fans, many recall that Carrie Bradshaw does not end up with Aidan by the original show’s finale — though the two briefly reunite in Sex and the City 2, albeit for an ill-fated kiss — instead ultimately winding up with Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Page Six reported that Noth would not return for the reboot, but after fans pleaded for him to reconsider on Instagram, the actor gave a cryptic response. “Well if Page Six says it…it must be true,” Noth replied with a winking emoji.

Only time will tell if Noth joins the cast, but in the meantime, fans know that at least one of Carrie’s flames will return.
