John Travolta has paid tribute to his Grease co-star Dame Olivia Newton-John following her death aged 73.

The pair starred opposite one another as Sandy Olsson and Danny Zuko in the much-loved musical, which was released in 1978.

Travolta penned a heartfelt message to the American film icon, sharing an old photo of her and sharing how much he loved her.

‘My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better’, he wrote on Instagram.

‘Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again.’

He signed off with a tear-jerking line: ‘Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!’

Fans were beside themselves upon reading the actor’s message on social media, branding his tribute ‘beautiful’ and sending their condolences.

‘There will only be one Sandy and Danny🕊🤍. You will always be together🕊’, commented on person.

After meeting in the 70s to star in the iconic musical/romance, Travolta and Dame Olivia remained close.

The actors reunited on-screen to film Two of a Kind in 1983, and were good friends for over four decades.

Dame Olivia’s husband, John Easterling, confirmed the sad news of her death in a statement, asking for privacy for their family as they come to terms with their loss.

Easterling shared that his wife – whom he married in 2008 – ‘passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California’ on Monday morning.

‘Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer’, he wrote.

‘Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.

‘In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund.’

The statement concluded: ‘Olivia is survived by her husband John Easterling; daughter Chloe Lattanzi; sister Sarah Newton-John; brother Toby Newton-John; nieces and nephews Tottie, Fiona and Brett Goldsmith; Emerson, Charlie, Zac, Jeremy, Randall, and Pierz Newton-John; Jude Newton-Stock, Layla Lee; Kira and Tasha Edelstein; and Brin and Valerie Hall.’

Dame Olivia’s exact cause of death has not yet been made public, but the late actress was battling cancer before she died.
