Kate Ferdinand has thanked her fans for their love and support following the news of her miscarriage.

The 31 year old announced the sad news at the end of July that she and husband Rio Ferdinand had lost their baby following a 12 week scan.

Following a few days of silence on social media, Kate posted a photo on her stories of her and stepdaughter Tia wearing some colourful beaded bracelets.

Accompanied by a white heart emoji, she wrote: "I've been taking some time off of my phone to be with my family but have just caught up on all your messages – thank you so much for all your love & well wishes."

The bracelet Kate was wearing is a handmade "healing" bracelet, with crystals chosen based on properties the wearer wants to achieve, including stress relief and help with anxiety.

Hers was bright and colourful, complete with smiley faces.

Later on, Kate posted another photo, this time of a supersized cookie for her stepson Tate's birthday, who turned 14 just a few days after the family's sad news.

Kate announced the news of her pregnancy and "devastating" miscarriage on Instagram, posting a black and white image of her legs propped up on a bed while wearing a hospital gown.

She wrote: "The last time I was in this hospital I was having Cree, but this time it was because our baby had no heartbeat in our 12 week scan and I had to have surgery.

"We were so excited & planning a space for our new baby in our family, we just couldn't wait to share our news with you all, but unfortunately sometimes life just doesn’t go as we plan.

"So much to say, but somehow I can't find the words. Absolutely devastated & heartbroken …but couldn't be more grateful for the hugs I got from my big(er) babies coming through the door when we arrived home."

Kate married Rio in 2017, becoming step mum to his children Lorenz, 16, Tate and Tia, who he had with late wife Rebecca Ellison.

They welcomed their son Cree in December 2020 in a "traumatic birth", with Kate being rushed to hospital for an emergency C-section just before Christmas.

Days after she shared: "The happiness has been overwhelming but so have the tears and emotions, I've felt like I can't do what I'm meant to be doing with Cree as I haven't been able to change or feed him consistently which has had me feeling all types of guilt, for Cree, Rio & that I can’t be doing what I normally do for the kids.

"It's a whirlwind I just wasn't expecting … but at the same time the most perfect whirlwind."
