Kate Middleton’s last minute Christmas Day outfit change for Prince William

All eyes were on Kate Middleton this Christmas, particularly during the royals' annual walkabout on Christmas Day. The Princess of Wales looked brilliantly chic in a dark green Alexander McQueen coat and a Philip Treacy fedora hat as she made her way around the grounds.

However, it has since been reported that Kate, 40, made a last-minute addition to her outfit after receiving a special Christmas gift from husband Prince William.

Making a stunning addition to her look, the mother-of-three donned a beautiful pair of earrings from Sezane, a French brand favoured by Kate. The earrings were reportedly given to her by William earlier that morning.

The ocean-blue Dina earrings, which are made from gold-plated recycled brass and natural stones, have unsurprisingly sold out since.

One royal fan rushed to Twitter to compliment the earrings, and Prince William, as they wrote: "They are gorgeous earrings, she is bound to love them. I wish my husband was as thoughtful as William!"

Kate is a big fan of the brand, and her wardrobe includes plenty of items from there including shirts, belts and a selection of pieces from their jewellery range.

Royal fans were delighted as the family, led by King Charles for the first time, greeted well-wishers outside the St. Mary Magdalene church on the Sandringham estate – a tradition long upheld by the family.

Kate and William arrived with all three of their children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four.

The Prince and Princess have often taken to leaving little Louis at home on royal occasions where they take their two eldest children, such as the recent Christmas concert hosted by Kate.

Following the royals' walkabout on Christmas Day, they were hosted at Sandringham for Christmas dinner by King Charles.

No doubt it was bittersweet, as it was the first royal Christmas without the Queen, who passed away aged 96 on September 8.

This year marked the first year King Charles delivered the Christmas Day speech as monarch, and he made sure to include a touching tribute to his "beloved mother".

The pre-recorded message began with Charles reflecting on how he was standing “so close to where my beloved mother, the late Queen, is laid to rest with my dear father” in the King George VI Memorial Chapel, and he thanked the public for the “love and sympathy” expressed in cards and messages of condolence.

Charles said he shared the late Queen’s “faith in people” who can touch the lives of others with “goodness and compassion”, something he described as the “essence of our community and the very foundation of our society”.
